A little note before proceeding with this story, if you have not read Mom, I miss you. I suggest you go read that before reading this. This is long overdue and I hope my readers understand that writing something new to me entirely is not as easy. This story is completely FICTION. Thanks, now on with the story.
Shortly after Rick asked Kate to be his wife, they started arguing. First it was about where to move furniture, where to go eat, and then it got serious. Rick wanted to give her a beautiful wedding paid for. Kate didn't approve of him paying for everything. She wanted to do her part and cover some of the expenses including the dresses. In one of their many arguments, she storms out and goes to see Lanie.
"Oh, Honey, What's wrong?" Lanie exclaimed when she saw Kate standing outside her door with tear streaks down her cheek.
"Rick and I had another fight about the wedding." Kate replied while walking to Lanie's couch.
"Tell me it wasn't about the money, God, you two are stubborn." Lanie said while trying to cheer her up.
"Lanie, he doesn't understand that I am capable of paying for my dress and the accessories." Kate said
"Kate, He understands. Trust me, Writer boy understands you are very much capable of doing whatever you want. He loves you enough to let you pay for what you want."
She then picks up her phone and keys and heads for the door. Before turning the knob, she thanks Lanie which is replied with "Girl, No problem That's what I am here for, Always.
Kate arrives home to find it empty in which she freaks and dials Rick's cell.
"Kate, where have you been, I tried calling but you didn't pick up. I thought something had happened to you." Rick breathes a sigh of relief when she interrupts him.
"Rick, I am fine, I am home. I went to see Lanie, Where are you?"
Rick replied, "I just arrived at the Old Haunt. I'll be home in ten minutes. Please do not go anywhere. We need to talk when I get there, and Kate, I love you"
"I love you to, hurry." Kate replied through tears.
No more than ten minutes later, Rick walked through the door and saw Kate lying on the couch watching TV. She heard him come in, but does nothing to show him she is awake. He goes over to the couch and sits next to her. That's when Kate sits up and hugs him with tear steaks going down her face. She leans back and gently kisses him, then again pulling him in for a hug. Telling him she is sorry between sobs. They sit like that for a while until her breathing calms and her sobs stop.
She pulls back and lays her hands on his jaws, leans forward and kisses him gently while saying thank you. Rick starts to say something but is interrupted when he feels a finger on his lips.
"Rick, I'm sorry, for arguing about who pay for what. I want to pay for my dress. It has nothing to do with money. It has everything to do with us. We have to agree to disagree sometimes but agree that we want what is best for both of us and not argue about it. Gosh, we aren't even married and we are arguing about little things! This is going to be on hell of a forever.
Rick sits there pondering what to say.
"Kate, you can pay for whatever you want, I never realized I was restricting you from doing so. As long as you are happy, so am I. I love you and I always will. We may not agree on everything but that's how we always were. We agree to listen to what the other has to say even if we disagree. And this is going to be a hell of a ride. But I wouldn't want to ride it will anyone else. "
Kate smiles and Moves over to kiss him. "Rick, Its late and I am tired, shall we go to bed?"
"Yes, we shall but there will be no guarantee that we will be going to sleep quite yet."
"Think you're going to get lucky tonight, Mister" Kate replies as she pokes his chest.
