Hey everybody! I saw the new Wolverine movie, and I'm here with my first X-Men fanfic, starring my OC Mary Kay!

I own nothing except for Mary Kay.

Chapter 1—Father Meets Daughter

Rain pelted the windows of Xavier's School for the Gifted, home to the X-Men and fellow mutants. Logan stayed behind while the others went out on a mission, and it's not because it's his retirement. No, the others felt he needed a break from kicking Magneto's and Sabertooth's butt around.

As thunder boomed outside, Logan walked down the stairs to get another beer. Cigar in his mouth, he was about to turn for the kitchen when he heard a rapping on the door.

What blockhead would be out in this weather?! Logan thought as he opened the door. He poked his head out, and he extended his claws in case some rotten kid was playing a prank. No one was behind the door.

Logan was confused. He was about to shut the door when he heard crying at his feet. He opened the door wider, and he found a bundle on the doorstep. He picked it up, and the thing cried harder. Logan pried the blanket, and a baby's face was revealed. He also found a letter within the folds of the blanket. He ripped the envelope open, and he read the contents.

To whoever finds this baby,

Since mutants are not welcome within our family, we made the choice to give this beautiful and special baby girl to you. Name whatever name you want for her, and care and love her with all of your heart. We sincerely hope that you love this baby for exactly who she is.

As sappy as the letter sounded, Logan's heart began to feel heavy for the baby. He cradled her as he went for the study. Even though Professor X may not like it, he snuffed his cigar on a house plant.

After half an hour of crying, the baby finally settled down. As he pondered about what had just happened, Logan found one claw extended. But as he planned to bring it back in his knuckle, the baby wrapped her tiny fingers around it. She seemed to like it.

Logan slowly retracted his claw, leaving tiny slits on the baby's fingers. Logan felt a little guilty for exposing the baby to harm, but he was surprised that the wounds healed themselves. She began to coo softly.

"I knew there was something unusual in my absence," a familiar voice said. Logan looked up from the baby, and he found Professor Xavier in the doorway.

"Well, here's your answer," Logan replied, holding up the baby.

Xavier wheeled over to Logan's couch. He eyed the baby, and he took her from Logan's arms. "I sense she is a mutant."

"That's a no-brainer, Chuck," Logan said matter-of-factly. "She got a little cut, and it healed itself."

"Doesn't that sound familiar? You and the child may be destined for each other…as father and daughter."

Father and daughter?! Logan thought in disbelief. "But I don't know how to be a parent! My past girlfriends never even had flamin' babies!"

Xavier chuckled as he handed the baby back to Logan. "Let us teach you how. I know that deep inside you, there is a devoted father." With that, he wheeled away to his office.

Logan looked down at the sleeping baby with a smile on his face. "Hey, baby girl. Your ol' pop's gonna make sure nothing bad happens to ya." He stroked the baby's dark, feathery hair. Then he remembered something from the note.

Name whatever name you want…

Logan thought long and hard for a special name for his new daughter.

"Mary Kay…" he whispered as the baby rested on his chest and he fell asleep.

I hope you like it!
