Broken
"I'm falling apart
I'm barely breathing
With a broken heart
That's still beating
In the pain
There is healing
In your name
I find meaning
So I'm holding on (I'm holdin on)(I'm holdin on)
I'm barely holding on to you"
chapter -1-
Inspired by Broken by Lifehouse, a Jamie fic.
In this story we find a James Sirius Potter in his mid-twenties, staring at the ceiling with a sort of attempt at focus, but his eyes were clouded over, he was frowning, deep in thought.
Jamie was going through a rough time right now, his 'loving' brother was currently in the process of courting the love of James's life, one that had turned him down when he had asked her to marry him, not even two years ago.
Two figures sat on a grassy lawn, darkness approaching fast. Their heads were bowed, the female's hair falling into her face. She was cloaked in the standard magical graduation robes, the male in a suit and tie, which even that was made to look informal.
"You look beautiful tonight." Said James, staring into Avery's emerald orbs.
"Thanks." Replied Avery, looking into her lap. This was an awkward situation for both of them.
"Avery, I have a question for you."
"Shoot."
He shifted to one knee, and took a black velvet box out of his left hip pocket. "Avery, will you marry me?"
Avery resembled a fish out of water in the focal area, for about a full minute, and James's knee was starting to cramp. "James, I can't. I just… don't love you, at least not like that." A single tear rolled down Avery's cheek, and the final ray of sunlight disappeared from the horizon.
Just thinking about the memory made Jamie claw blindly over the top of his bedside dresser, for the rusting bloodstained razor that resided there. Oh, Jamie didn't like to cut, he told himself that, but sometimes he didn't get the option. In the midst of this, his cell phone went off. Fumbling for it, James checked the caller ID. Teddy. He flipped the fussy little silver phone open, pressing the device to his ear, catching the antenna into the gold loop that resided there. He didn't bother to untangle it, the pain reminded him that he was still alive.
"Hey man, what's up?" Jamie said into the phone, trying to sound casual, rubbing at his forehead.
"Um…. If I were doing anything of importance, would I be calling you?" Teddy asked teasingly, and Jamie could el the smile in his voice. "How about you?"
"Trying to figure out the quickest way to kill myself," Answered Jamie honestly.
" Try rat poison." Answered Teddy, and then there was a cry of "Oh shit no!"
The line went dead in James's hand, and he snapped the phone shut, considering it.
