There was a reason, beyond that he loved Sci-fi, that Connor Temple believed aliens were real, dinosaurs were still roaming the earth, and that anything - almost anything- could happen. That reason was, that when he was 18, The Doctor showed up, and Connor wasted no time in agreeing to travel all of time and space with him in his Tardis. But all good things must come to an end, and eventually The Doctor dropped Connor back home. He didn't mind, really, that people tended to think he was a silly conspiracy theorist who'd not grown out of childhood fancies. Because he'd seen more than they could ever imagine. So when the newspaper article with the creature report, and when that led to the discovery of the Anomalies - rips in time-space - Connor was so excited he could hardly contain it. Of course, just as he'd learned in his time with the doctor, life was dangerous. Especially when you factored in creatures that looked at puny little humans and saw a midmorning snack, maybe not even that much.

There was more than Cutter's legacy pressing down on him, Connor mused wearily one night, kipping at the ARC after Abby's brother had showed up at the flat. He stayed at the ARC for more than Cutter, though if he'd never met the Doctor, he would still have stayed, because he'd promisedto Nick, and he would keep that promise no matter what. The Doctor wasn't around to deal with the rips in time and space, but maybe, just maybe, Connor could do it.

When they'd gotten back from the cretaceous, he'd been star-struck, and he wanted a father-figure again. Unfortunately, this led to him being oblivious of the fact that Burton's aims were counterintuitive to both The Doctor's, and Cutter's, intentions. And to Connor's own. It all cleared up in the end, and Connor eventually managed to convince Abby of the Doctor's existence… when, many years later, he visited them. They didn't leave, couldn't, with two year old twins at home, but little Niki and Tommy had a new 'uncle' who came by from time to time, and an 'aunt', too. Eventually, River stopped coming by, and The Doctor was sad for a little while. Connor and Abby tried to get him to tell them why, but he wouldn't say. And then, when Tommy and Niki were teenagers, taking up junior positions at the ARC. The Doctor stopped visiting, too. Connor, at one point, imparted to Abby that perhaps he was somewhere near, but he'd regenerated, and they simply didn't recognize him.

Abby's reply was to ask why he hadn't at least visited to say goodbye, no matter what he looked like now, they would know it was him.

Tommy suggested, rather pessemistically, that he probably had met people cooler than them. Niki had snapped her at her brother that who would possibly be cooler than the family that worked with anomalies and creatures from the past and future, and anyway the Doctor wouldn't do that. Tommy rolled his eyes, but later wondered if maybe, someday, he'd coem back, because he'd love to go on an adventure. Connor ruffled the teen's hair, much to his disgruntlement, and Niki leaned against her mother's shoulder. They watched the sunset quietly, each half hoping to see that same blue box.

AN: Erm... I don't even know. The idea hit me when I was manipping pics in the cafe at school, and I ended up with Connor in front of the Tardis... Anyways, hope you enjoyed! I have no intentions on expanding or continuing this in any way, however. Aaand.. I'm pretty sure anyone who's a fan of both Primeval and Doctor Who will at least sort of grasp what happened...Right? 3
