PROLOGUE
"Arthur! How dare you ask to play! You know how stressed we are with the baby!"
"I-I'm sorry mummy! I swear! I d-didn't mean to stress y-you!"
"You did so! Stop lying!" Arthur's mother said as she slapped him across the face, causing the tree-year-old to cry harder. "Go to your room NOW!" Arthur scrambled out of the room as fast as he could, knowing the damage his mother could cause when mad, bawling the whole way.
Children are so naïve, so innocent. Breaking them should be the worst sin. As a child, I was always underappreciated, especially around the time of my little brothers birth. But, while most children in that situation would hate or feel jealous of the baby, I didn't. I felt bad for my mother, as she always made being pregnate sound aweful, but I loved that baby with all my heart. I was so exited to be a big brother, to have someone who would look up to me, who would appriciate me.
"Here, you can hold him." Mummy said as she gave me the baby. Once I had the baby, I sat down . "Now, don't drop him." I looked down at the baby, he had blue eyes, unlike my green. Maybe he would have dirty blond hair, like momma always said she wanted, instead of blond, like mine.
"What's his name, mummy?" I asked, looking up to my mother.
"Peter, dear."
"Peter…" I looked at the baby. He looked so soft, sweet, and vulnerable. I hugged him close, rocking him in my arms. "I love you, Peter. I'll do my best to be a perfect brother. I promise."
