I am kind of freaking out because the first day of school is tomorrow, and so I wrote this to try and calm my anxiety. Plus I love a good Rose/Albus/Scor friendship fic. Enjoy!
Everyone's nervous on the first day of school.
That was what Rose Weasley's mother said to her just before she boarded the Hogwarts Express early that morning. She sat with her cousin Albus in their compartment as the train rattled along the track to Hogwarts.
Just take a deep breath, smile, and try and make friends with someone new.
Her mother's words popped into her head when a very blonde haired boy stuck his head in the half empty compartment.
"Do you mind?" He murmured, "All the others are full."
Albus shrugged and went back to staring out the window, a look close to terror on his face.
Rose smiled, taking a deep breath, and said, "I'm Rose. And that's Albus," She said, motioning to her cousin.
"I'm Scorpius," the boy said quietly, still not coming through the door.
Rose shot him a funny look, "Aren't you going to sit down?"
Scorpius looked unsurely between Albus and Rose before sighing, "I'm not sure that's a good idea."
"Well why not?" Albus questioned, confusion written all over his face.
Rose then remembered what her father had said on the platform, "You're Scorpius Malfoy, aren't you?"
The boy nodded, turning sadly to retreat back through the open door.
"Where are you going?" the question surprised him, especially coming from Rose Weasley.
He turned around again, shocked, "Well, I assume you don't want me in here 'cause I'm, well, I'm a Malfoy," he explained quietly.
Everyone needs a friend.
Rose realized that this was the truest thing her mother had ever told her.
She patted the seat next to her, "What's it matter? I'm not just a Weasley, he's not just a Potter," motioning again to Albus, "And you are not just a Malfoy," Rose explained.
"I am Rose, he is Albus, and you are Scorpius. And we can all be friends."
Later, when Rose wrote to her parents excitedly from the Ravenclaw common room, she made sure to thank her mother for her kind advice. She also remembered to assure her father that she was doing fine and had already made some new friends.
One of which happened to be sitting next to her cousin in front of the fire, both of which were fidgeting, trying to readjust their blue ties.
And Rose felt all her nervousness from that morning disappear, and in its place was something totally different; hope. Hope that the teachers would like her. Hope that she could handle the schoolwork. But most of all hope that she, Albus, and Scor would stay friends through all of the obstacles that were sure to come.
They did go to wizarding school after all.
But even so, everyone was nervous on the first day of school.
Did you like it? Let me know... That means review, hint hint...!
