Thanks to electrokineticartest on deviantart for the base picture. And to thebluehedgehog for pointing out that my story is shit. (Tis joke, he good man, he helped fix a bunch of errors.)

Ruby gazed into the lapping waves of the ocean, mesmerized by the golden streaked sky as the sun set into the everlasting waters.

"Beautiful, isn't it?" A voice came from behind, the man walking closer.

"It sure is. . ." Ruby replied, Still staring into the distance.

"It's not so often you get to see sights like this anymore. . ." He paused for a moment.

"But yet we do not have time to enjoy it, hell it's hard to enjoy any aspect of life now a' days. . ."

He says, turning his back to the beauty of the sunset.

"There is work to be done. C'mon Ruby, Let's head back to camp." He orders.

"Don't you miss it?. . . I mean, The way it used to be, don't you wish you could just. . . go back. . . before all this?" Ruby questioned, finally breaking her stare and looking at him as he walks inland.

"Every day, every minute, Heck I don't think there is a time where I'm NOT thinking about it. . . Of course I wish it would go back to the way it used to be. . . I would do anything, just to go back. . . even only for a day. . . Even an hour, I'd even go to say a minute." He answered, It seemed he was preparing that answer for a while.

"But that will never happen, we don't have the option to go back. we are stuck here, no matter if we like it, or not. . . Now head back to camp before it gets dark, Pyrrha said she saw some grimm activity just a couple klicks south of us. It's best we hurry back, just in case. . . I don't want to lose another man. . . Not this soon." He demanded, walking quickly back to camp, leaving Ruby no time to reply.

Ruby drew one last breath facing the heavenly sky, she then picked up Crescent Rose, turned around, and headed south to camp.

After trekking for around 20 minutes, Ruby heard the distinct crackle of a campfire.

"Guess who's back? Back again. . ." The man said, walking into camp

"Tyler, You are so white y'know that?" A man in camp calls out his childish antics.

"Well, David, sorry that i have metric shit tons of more swagger than you."

"I swear you're mentally challenged" David retorts.

"Hey, I prefer the term, 'Mentally Unstable'. I'll let you know." Tyler responds to Davids' hostility

"How about you both stop bickering and do something useful, i'm sure we could always use some more supplies, so how about you spend your energy on hunting or something, instead of flapping your stupid mouths." A woman, emerging from a tent aggressively states.

"Weiss." Both David and Tyler say simultaneously

"Lighten up snow-angel, We are good on supply's for at least a couple more days, and Blake and Neptune are on a supply run as we speak, so I suggest you calm down and enjoy yourself." Tyler requests.

"Didn't you say Pyrrha reported grimm close to here?" Ruby reminded Tyler.

"Well. . . Crap, you can never catch a break." Tyler replied realizing he completely forgot.

"I suggest we deal with that in the morning, just stay on high alert when you are on lookout duty, speaking of which, what's the shift looking like?" Tyler inquires.

"Let's see. Its, David, then Tyler, then Me." Ruby swiftly responds.

"Of course I get the middle shift." Tyler upsetly murmurs, sitting down in a violent manner

"Don't be a baby." David fires, bang bang, skeet skeet.

Tyler doesn't reply. Instead he gets up, and walks towards his tent. "I might as well go to sleep now."

Tyler walks over to his tent, steps in, and zips it up.

"Boop."

"Holy fucking shit!" Tyler screams as he grasps his chest. "You can't do that to me Nora. I think I might have a heart attack."

Nora sighs, "Don't be such a baby."

Tyler finally calms his breathing and relaxes. "How long have you been waiting in my tent?"

"Longer than I should admit. . ." Nora quietly responds, as she shuffles to sit next to Tyler.

"You don't seem quite at a hundred percent. . . Is something wrong?"

"Just tired. That's all." Tyler answers.

Nora yawns "Me too." and lays down on one of the two sleeping bags.

Tyler crawls to the other bag.

"Y'know. Its pretty cold tonight." Nora mentions.

"Yep." Tyler agrees.

Nora sits up. "Why don't you. . ."

"Let me guess, Come snuggle?" Tyler predicts, cutting Nora off.

"I can't tonight, I have watch duty. I wouldn't want to wake you up in the middle of the night."

Nora lies down. "Oh. . . Well ok then."

Tyler realizes how let down Nora feels "Don't worry, I still love you."

"I love you too." Nora replies, quickly falling asleep.

It only felt like 15 minutes had gone by when David shook Tyler awake.

Tyler sluggishly woke up, got dressed and moved to his post in complete silence.

David walked up to the lookout tower and knocked on one of the supports. "Keep an open eye tonight, Blake still hasn't returned."

"I'm sure she will be fine." Tyler reassured David.

David sighed. "I know, But these supply runs are getting too dangerous. We need to figure out another way to get food."

"We don't really have a choice, farming has proven really difficult, and there is not many wild animals to trap and hunt anymore." Tyler paused.

"This is the safest we have been in a very long time. . . Even with that it's still dangerous, it always had, and it always will be. Even before all this, the world wanted nothing but for us to die."

"Have you tried fishing?" David asked.

"Yeah, Ruby went out yesterday but didn't manage to catch anything."

"No matter what we do-"

"Shhh." David cuts off Tyler.

"Did you hear that?"

Both David and Tyler go quiet and listen into the deep forest. After a couple of seconds, they hear the faint sound of gunfire. Tyler stands up and grabs his Lunar Cyclone, It's a long metal staff with two saw blades on the very end, Between the end of the blades is a muzzle where it shoots shotgun shells. Around the lower half is two squeeze triggers. The wielder grabs it from there and squeezes both hands to fire the gun. Meanwhile David grabbed his Torment Whips, Which are Tri-Bladed daggers that are also guns, that are attached to his wrists via a deep blood red ribbon.

"Go wake up everyone else, meet you out there, go quickly!" Tyler orders David as he climbs down the ladder and runs off into the black forest.

David has no choice but to agree. It only takes slightly over a minute to get everyone awake and briefed on the situation. By this time Tyler is already closing in on the sounds of gunfire and grimm. But just as he is about to arrive to help, silence strikes the air. The sound of fighting abruptly ending makes Tyler stop in his tracks for a moment. So many thoughts rush through his head, most he wished were not the case. After realizing that he's frozen, Tyler shakes his head, and continues on. He only has to make a few more steps before he eyes gaze upon the sight he feared the most. Blake, laying on the ground, lifeless.
