Pairing: Sam x Optimus Prime

Author Notes: There aren't enough Sam/Optimus stories and I adore this pairing so I decided to write my own. This is my first time writing a Transformers story so I'm a little nervous about my characterizations. I hope everyone enjoys the first chapter.

Please note that this story will contain All Spark!Sam. If you don't like it, please exit now. I'm going to put my own unique twist on All Spark!Sam though it may take a while to set up the plot.

Set after Revenge of the Fallen. Ignores Dark of the Moon and Age of Extinction.

':Commlink:' is used for the bots' commlinks.

Ch. 1: Autobot Bodyguards

Sam Witwicky stood on top of the aircraft carrier staring out into the ocean as he enjoyed the rare moment of silence and solitude. The boy was wearing a black short sleeved t-shirt and black NEST pants. He had a white cast on his right foot, crutches under his armpits, white bandages on his left hand and a few white bandages on his face and neck. The painkiller that he had taken earlier must be wearing off as he could feel all of the pain from his accumulated injuries the longer he stood there. But the boy was stubbornly refusing to go inside.

Ever since the battle in Egypt ended, the teenager hadn't been left alone for more than an hour. Mikaela and his parents stuck by him the whole first day they spent on the huge ship. Sam understood why they had been sticking to him like glue and allowed them to accompany him to wherever he needed to go without protest. After the first day, they seemed to relax as they realized the teenager wasn't about to run away or die (again).

But the Autobots on the other hand… The boy shook his head looking frustrated. He understood that Optimus was worried about him and cared about him but he felt smothered by all of the attention he was receiving from the Autobots. Whereas Mikaela and his parents finally realized that Sam wasn't going anywhere and had left him alone, the Autobots hadn't. At all times, he would have an Autobot bodyguard. At first, he had put up with it just like he had with his parents and girlfriend assuming that things would go back to normal after a while. But it hadn't and it was starting to irritate him. When he and Optimus finally had their talk, he would have to bring that up to the Autobot leader.

He shivered as a cool breeze blew through the area and looked up at the sky. The black sky and twinkling stars as well as the last quarter moon greeted him. Remembering what he had read from his information overload when the All Spark made him have a mental breakdown in Astronomy class a few days ago (as well as reading the information countless times in the past due to his frequent habit of stargazing), he knew the last quarter moon only came out past midnight and cringed at the thought of meeting somebody this late at night. Not because of the physical danger to himself but because of the lecture he was sure to get.

The boy could feel the temperature dropping the longer he stood there. The only problem with going inside and escaping from the cold was that he would more than likely encounter one of the Autobots. He knew as soon as he was caught, he would be subjected to a lecture. After this escapade of his, he was sure the only alone time he would get was inside his room and inside the bathroom.

A groan escaped his lips as he thought about a particular Autobot who would more than likely go off on a tirade if they heard about what he was doing right now. While the teenager had (reluctantly) seen the human doctors on the ship, he had been avoiding Ratchet's medical bay and Ratchet himself. Thankfully, the Chief Medical Officer hadn't been one of his Autobot bodyguards yet. The human did think it was strange the other Autobots hadn't tried to force him to go to the CMO's med bay yet but shrugged it off thinking Ratchet was busy with Optimus and the other Autobots' repairs.

The boy jumped as something soft and warm was placed on his shoulders. He looked down noticing that a blue blanket was the object. Dreading to see who it was that gave him the blanket as he knew he was in trouble, he reluctantly looked over to his right. His eyes widened upon seeing his guardian kneeling next to him. "Bee!"

The yellow and black Autobot was in his bi-pedal form and the human noticed that his best friend had a relieved look in his optics. While Sam wasn't an expert at reading the Autobots' emotions, he had noticed (mainly by observing and interacting with them) that the Autobots were similar to humans in that he could read their emotions in their optics. There were some Autobots that he couldn't read though. He figured it was because he didn't know them as well as he knew his guardian. Sam felt a little guilt as he realized how his disappearance worried his best friend. After all, he had managed to elude the Autobots for a few hours (something he was still surprised about considering his friends were alien robots). "Sam. The others and I were worried when you disappeared without warning."

An irritated look went onto the human's face as he looked away from the alien. Not wanting to take it out on his guardian when the other was only following orders (and genuinely worried about him), he breathed in deeply then let it out. "Sorry, Bee. I just wanted to be alone for a few hours. I couldn't exactly do that with you and the others hanging around me all the time." While his guardian was a part of the 'Let's babysit Sam at all times operation' going on, the teenager didn't want to accidentally hurt him by giving in to the anger. Only one bot was going to receive his fury and that bot wasn't Bumblebee.

"I'm sorry, Sam. But I agree with Optimus. You died—"Sam flinched unable to keep his expression neutral at the mention of his (temporary) death. "— when I or any of the Autobots weren't there to protect you and we won't let it happen again." Bumblebee, having noticed his charge's flinch, reached out with a metal servo. The teenager watched the other out of the corner of his eyes wondering what the scout would do. The scout's servo stopped a few feet away from Sam's back where it curled into a fist then one metal finger reached out and started stroking the human's back slowly and soothingly.

The human was surprised at feeling his irritation slowly die down at the gentle action. He was unsure what that meant. Did that mean his guardian saw him as a kid that needed to be comforted? Or was it something Bumblebee thought might help? Maybe it came from his experience as Sam's guardian and friend. "It is alright. I understand why it has to be this way. It is not like it is going to last forever. I still think you guys are going overboard with it though. I'm going to talk to Optimus about it. By the way, when am I going to get to speak to the big guy? I haven't seen him since the time we stood out here and he thanked me for saving his life a few days ago."

Bumblebee was pleased at the reaction to his touch. While the human hadn't responded positively, he hadn't responded negatively either. The bot took this as a good sign. He was glad he was able to be close like this with Sam. As far as he knew, he was the only bot that was this close to Sam and it made his spark happy. If Optimus wasn't as stubborn, the scout was sure the Autobot leader would be this close (maybe closer if Sam felt the same way) to him as well. "Optimus cares about you, Sam. He cares about you a lot," The scout said softly continuing the gentle action. The scout made a mental note in his processor to bring this up to the other Autobots. If it turned out that the human liked the touch, it might be useful in the future.

Another cool wind blew through the area making the human shiver. He wrapped the blue blanket around him trying to stay warm. Sam wasn't sure why but the blanket made him think of Optimus. Maybe because both were blue? A sigh escaped his mouth as he registered the bot's words. "I know, Bee. I know Optimus cares about me. I know you guys care about me. You didn't answer my question."

Bumblebee was about to answer when the human started falling backwards. The bot reacted quickly, the rest of his metal fingers joining his other hand as he held the smaller form. "Are you alright, Sam?"

The teenager nodded feeling drained. "I'm fine. I just feel drained all of a sudden. It is probably because of all the walking I had to do today." His other injuries were starting to hurt which meant it was time for the medicine he received from the human doctors.

The bot knew that the human was more than likely referring to his sprained ankle and having to make his way around on crutches. "Standing out here in the cold probably didn't help your injuries either. Ratchet is going to be furious."

Sam, whose eyes were slowly closing, nodded with a tired grin on his face. "Probably. Ratchet can wait though."

Bumblebee was about to tell his charge that Ratchet wouldn't accept that answer but changed his mind as he watched the other yawn. "Sam, would you like me to carry you back to your room? You look like you could use some recharge."

The human blinked his eyes open and looked at his guardian. The bot had a concerned look in his optics. Sam wanted to tell Bumblebee that he could walk on his own but he would be lying. He felt too tired to walk on his own. The human reluctantly nodded.

The scout carefully held the human in his servos next to his metal chassis and stood up slowly. After gently removing the blanket from the smaller form's grip and adjusting it so that it now covered the other's front, he grabbed the human's crutches with one servo then started walking over to the door.

The bot stepped inside the ship and looked down at Sam wondering if the human was comfortable. He was surprised to see the boy was fast asleep. The human must have been more tired than he thought. Thinking the others would want to know that he had found Sam, he commed his leader. :Bumblebee to Optimus Prime.:

:This is Optimus. Go ahead, Bumblebee. Did you find Sam?:

The scout could hear the worried tone in his leader's vocal capacitor. Upon noticing that Sam was missing, Optimus had ordered the Autobots to scour the ship and to find the human. If the situation wasn't as serious, Bumblebee would have been amused at the fact that Sam had been able to disappear on them for a few hours by just walking out to the bow of the ship. None of the bots had thought to look there until the scout was passing by the door that lead outside for the tenth time wondering if his charge was out there. The young bot knew that come tomorrow, Sam would have a lot of upset bots to deal with. :Yes, I did. I'm currently en route to his room with him right now.:

Bumblebee almost chirped happily as the other bots let out noises of happiness and relief through the commlink's public channel. Thankfully, he managed to stop himself in time as he didn't want to accidentally wake up Sam. The human deserved his rest especially after all that he went through recently. The boy had dark circles under his eyes and he looked paler than normal. It was obvious even to the scout that the human was having problems recharging.

:Bumblebee, get that boy in my med bay this instant!: Ratchet's upset voice cut through the happiness of all of the bots.

:Sam needs his recharge. He can see you in the morning: Bumblebee replied. Normally, he would agree with Ratchet but it was late and Sam was already recharging. He was unsurprised to hear the CMO wasn't pleased about that. After grumbling that he could check up on Sam when the boy was recharging, Ratchet reluctantly relented but not before telling the Autobots over the public channel that he wanted to see the human first thing in the morning. The young bot started making his way to the human's recharging quarters. After turning Sam over to his parental units (as he couldn't enter Sam's room by himself as he was too big), he would go back to the Autobots' hangar; answer the other bots' questions about the human boy then slip into a recharge cycle of his own. The young bot hoped he would get to spend more time with Sam tomorrow.

The next morning, Sam opened his eyes feeling tired and frustrated. Like the nights before, his sleep was plagued with nightmares making him unable to fall asleep for more than a few hours. He moaned as he ran his fingers through his hair. How long would this continue? Lately, all of his nightmares involved Optimus' temporary death. As if that wasn't bad enough, his most recent nightmare had changed. Instead of seeing Optimus' death for the fourth time then waking up, his nightmare had continued. Bumblebee was the next bot to die and just like with Optimus, the human was unable to do anything to help. Before the bot died, Bumblebee told him to run. That was when the human woke up screaming.

The teenager had been tempted to go check on his friends in the Autobot hangar but decided not to as he was still tired. He had tried to go back to sleep but as he was still scared from the nightmare, it had proved to be a futile effort. Never once had the thought of telling somebody about his nightmares crossed his mind. Sam was grateful nobody ever woke up and came to check on him due to his screaming. They didn't need to lose their sleep because of him after all and he hated worrying his friends and family.

He sighed reluctantly getting up. While he was still tired, it was early enough in the morning that people would be up. The boy wasn't in the mood nor did he have an appetite for breakfast but knew if he didn't show up, his family and Mikaela would be worried. Maybe a shower would help him wake up more. He grabbed another black t-shirt and black NEST pants from his room and made his way down the hall to the showering room. As his clothes had been destroyed in the battle of Egypt, the military had given him new clothes to wear.

It took more time and effort than usual to shower with his bandaged hand as well as the cast that was on his foot. He grunted as he slipped the clothes on and started making his way back to his room on his crutches. After putting away his pajamas and towel, he looked in the mirror and ran a hand through his hair but it only made his wet hair stick up. His hands patted his hair down and after glaring at it, he exited his room.

The boy closed his door then started making his way to the mess hall. As he slowly made his way through the hallway, his mind pointed out that there was something wrong due to two reasons. First of all, he was alone. Second, it was too quiet. While Sam knew his mind was slow upon waking up, it usually wasn't this bad.

"Where do you think you are going, Samuel?"

The teenager froze at the familiar voice. He slowly turned around and almost squeaked at the sight of Ironhide in his bi-pedal form. The black Autobot did not look pleased. "Ironhide!" As the Autobot stepped closer to him, the human's mind chose that moment to bring up what happened the night before. The effect was instantaneous. He paled and immediately tried to make space between the giant robot and himself. Ironhide was probably pissed off at him. While he knew the robot wouldn't hurt him, he was afraid of the other's reaction.

But unlike the human legs that can retreat backwards with minimal effort, the crutches were hard to maneuver with. The human moved the crutches behind him then hopped backwards. But unfortunately, Sam Witwicky was a clumsy person. As he hopped backwards, his sneaker covered foot brushed against his cast covered foot. The boy cried out in pain and while trying to regain his balance, he managed to trip over his own feet causing him to start falling face first to the ground. His eyes closed bracing himself for the pain.

A few moments later, he winced as he fell onto something hard. His eyebrows furrowed. While he did hit something hard, it didn't hurt as much as he thought it would. Was the floor always this warm?

"Sam! Are you alright?"

The human could recognize Ironhide's voice above him. Was the Autobot worried about him? He was about to respond but then noticed something. The floor wasn't warm to the touch nor did it feel like metal fingers. Hazel eyes snapped open at the realization. He slowly got up and turned his body to look up at his friend. Any embarrassment he felt at tripping over his own feet twice (Twice! That had to be some type of record for him) disappeared leaving gratitude and guilt in its place. "I'm alright, Ironhide. Thank you for catching me. Sorry to worry you."

After a few moments (in which the human shivered at feeling the scan causing him to shoot a glare at his friend for scanning him without permission), the black robot heaved air out of his vents mimicking a human sigh. "I am glad you are alright, Sam." The human knew Ironhide was one of those gruff bots that really cared deep inside but it was still embarrassing (and touching) to be caught on the receiving end.

The black Autobot carefully held the human in one servo then raised his other servo and poked Sam's shoulder with a metal finger. Whenever the Autobots had to touch Sam, they were always gentle about it (no doubt careful of their size and strength around him). This time was no exception. It almost felt like getting poked by a person instead of a giant alien robot. It didn't hurt at all. Sam blinked up at the other confused. "You need to be more careful, little one," The Autobot reprimanded halfheartedly.

Sam could still hear the affectionate tone in the other's voice and decided not to complain about the nickname (this time). "Are you going soft on me, Ironhide?" The human was not above to making a teasing jab at his friend for the tender moment that they shared. A teasing grin was on his face as he looked up at his friend.

"I am not going soft!" The Autobot's gruff demeanor came back in a flash.

"Sure, big guy. Keep telling yourself that," The human snorted patting the metal servo he was sitting on with his uninjured hand. The black robot's optics narrowed as they looked at him. Before the other could speak up, the human changed the subject. "What are you doing here, anyway?" Ironhide gave him a raised optic ridge and a pointed look. "What is it?" Apparently, his mind had decided to be slow again as he didn't understand what the other was trying to tell him.

"I am your escort this morning."

Ah. So that was what his mind had forgotten. At least Ironhide didn't say bodyguard or babysitter. Did the alien even know of babysitters? "I don't need an 'escort'. I'll be alright on my own," The human muttered looking away from his friend irritated.

"Nevertheless, I have my orders to accompany you to the mess hall and then to the Autobot hangar. Hang on."

Before Sam could open his mouth to complain or maybe even get angry, the robot moved him from his servo to his shoulder. "W-What are you doing? Let me down," He said instinctively using his hands to hold onto the metal covering. He cursed the way his voice shook as he noticed how high he was off the ground.

Ironhide picked up his crutches as the metal he was sitting on conformed to the human's body (like Bumblebee's car seats) so that he wouldn't fall off. "Ratchet wants to see you after you eat breakfast. This way will be faster," He said starting to walk.

"How about a warning, big guy?" Sam grumbled under his breath as he released his hands. He knew that if he were to fall somehow, the other would catch him. They walked a few moments in silence when the human's mind finally registered what the Autobot said. "Wait… Ratchet?!" Damn it. He absolutely hated the way his voice squeaked at the CMO's name. "We're going to see Ratchet after breakfast?" Unfortunately, he was unable to keep the fear out of his voice.

"Yes, we are. He has been worried about you, Sam."

Was it his imagination or did Ironhide sound… amused? "I don't need to go see Ratchet. I mean, I love visiting you guys but I'm fine."

"Rest assured, Sam. We enjoy your visits as well but Ratchet is determined to check on your injuries. Injuries that are still healing," The bot shot him a severe look that had the human on his shoulder plates duck his head embarrassed. There went his hope of his little… tripping incident remaining a secret. The human was sure now that Ironhide had already let Ratchet know of the incident via their commlink.

"B-But I really do feel fine. In fact, I feel great. I don't even feel like somebody who just died." The human was so desperate to get out of visiting the CMO that he didn't even realize what he had said until the black bot had stopped walking. The boy was unable to stop his shiver once he remembered that he had died. Immediately, the shoulder plates he was sitting on started warming up. "Ironhide?"

"Indeed. Let's hope it never comes to that again, little one," Ironhide said stiffly. The black Autobot wouldn't let the human die (again). He failed to keep Sam safe in Egypt and the sight of Sam's dead body was something he was sure would stay in his memory banks for a long time. The Autobots were grateful the Primes had given the boy back to them. He started to walk once more ignoring the human's look of confusion.

"I'm not little! Don't call me that," Sam said taking offense to the nickname. He was confused at his friend's mood swing. He couldn't read the emotions in Ironhide's optics as well as he could with Bumblebee but from what he could tell, the bot had looked sad. There were other emotions as well but the human couldn't tell what they were.

Thankfully, before he had more time to dwell on it; his friend spoke. "You are compared to me, Sam."

"No, you are too big. Stupid giant alien robots," The boy muttered to the other's slight amusement and settled for glaring down at the alien he was hitching a ride on.

After reaching the mess hall, Ironhide finally lifted the human off of his shoulder and placed him gently on the ground being careful of the human's sprained ankle. Sam thanked him as he received the crutches then watched as the bot stood against the wall near the entrance as the mess hall wasn't big enough for someone of Ironhide's stature. The human hesitated then lifted his uninjured hand and placed it onto the bot's metal leg.

Ironhide looked down at him questioningly.

"… I'll be in the mess hall eating breakfast. Once I'm done, we can leave," Sam said removing his hand and starting to walk away before he could hear the other's answer. A thought occurred to him making him pause and turn to look at his friend. "Don't charge up your cannons while I'm gone." Whenever his trigger happy friend had been his bodyguard/babysitter lately, the bot would charge up his cannons while waiting for Sam no doubt trying to intimidate the people on board the ship – daring them to hurt the human he was protecting.

"We don't harm humans, Sam," Ironhide called after him as Sam started walking into the mess hall.

"That isn't the point," The human muttered knowing the Autobot could hear him. Even if the Autobots didn't harm humans, the other humans on board the ship couldn't help the fear that always came with hearing the black Autobot charging up his cannons. A small amused grin went onto his face as he heard loud grumbling behind him.

With four pairs of eyes on him (technically three pairs and a pair of optics as he sat in a seat that was in Ironhide's view), Sam reluctantly ate some breakfast. He managed to eat a few slices of bacon and a few bites of toast under his parents and Mikaela's watchful gazes but as soon as they looked away, he stopped eating. He wasn't hungry anymore.

The boy tensed at the hand that was placed on top of his own. Once he saw that it was Mikaela's hand, he relaxed. He felt guilt churning in his stomach as he realized he didn't feel any spark. His girlfriend had held his hand and kissed his cheek many times when she hadn't left him alone for that first day on the ship. He hadn't been getting the tingling that he usually got whenever their skin touched (or whenever they kissed). That had been going on for a while now and he knew what it meant.

Sam would have to break up with Mikaela.

He was comfortable with the girl's platonic touches but whenever the other tried to kiss him on the lips or tried to make romantic moves on him, he wouldn't like it and would gently push her away before anything happened. The boy had been putting off their conversation not liking the fact that he had to hurt her and trying to see if he was imagining things. But he was probably making things worse by leading Mikaela on and making her think that he still loved her. Sam still loved his girlfriend but not in the way she wanted him to.

Sighing, he reluctantly got up from the table. The girl stood up with him and after shooting a disapproving look at his tray, picked it up for him and walked with him to the exit. The boy nodded absentmindedly as the girl talked to him about eating more. After Mikaela threw the food on his tray away, she turned to go back to their table.

"Mikaela, wait," Sam said raising his injured hand to stop her. At her questioning look, he looked down feeling the guilt from before. "Let's talk later, okay?"

Mikaela, guessing the conversation was going to be private and not for everyone's ears, smiled and nodded. "Alright. See you later." The girl had an idea of what her boyfriend wanted to talk about but kept her face devoid of those thoughts as she didn't want to worry him.

The boy forced a weak smile to come onto his face as she kissed his cheek. He still didn't feel the tingling and knew he had made the right decision. "Yeah. See you." He watched as she walked back to the table they were sitting at then started making his way out of the mess hall.

Sam had only taken a few steps out of the mess hall when a large metal servo picked him up. He let out a surprised noise as he was deposited on his earlier perch on top of Ironhide's shoulder. A halfhearted glare came onto his face as he looked at his friend. "A warning would be nice," He grumbled.

Ironhide picked up his crutches and started walking away from the mess hall. "I am sorry, Sam. But Ratchet ordered me not to let your feet touch the ground until we reach his med bay." The boy opened his mouth to speak looking cross. "He heard about your incident earlier and is less than pleased."

Yeah and whose fault do you think that is, big guy? Sam glared at the black Autobot."You don't sound sorry," The human muttered crossing his arms in front of him. "I can walk on my own. I'm fine."

The bot ignored him which made Sam sulk. The human grumbled and muttered under his breath the whole time as they made their way to the Autobot hangar.

Ten minutes later, the Autobots who were waiting in the hangar were amused as Ironhide walked into the room with a sulking Sam on his shoulder plates. The aliens could tell their human looked less than pleased upon his current perch. Sam, who had had his eyes looking towards the ground as they entered, finally looked up. For a brief moment, his eyes lit up and it was clear he was about to smile and greet them… until Ratchet (who was in his bi-pedal form) walked up to him. The human's eyes widened looking like he would rather be anywhere else but there.

Knowing that he couldn't escape from the Autobot medic, the human began babbling nervously in an attempt to distract the bot from doing his job. "Ratchet. Everyone. It is good to see you. I know you are worried, Ratchet. But I'm fine. I don't need a checkup or—"He bit his lip to contain the pained yelp as the weapons specialist's finger poked his injured ankle. It didn't stop his face from making a pained expression though.

"You idiot. Don't aggravate his injuries," Ratchet scolded the black Autobot. His blue optics looked at Sam. "And that is why I wanted to check on you sooner."

"Of course it would hurt if you touch it that hard!" Sam spoke through gritted teeth. His hands twitched as if they were tempted to reach down and hold his ankle.

"It was the gentlest of touches, Sam," Ironhide said offended.

Before the human could respond, Ratchet plucked him off of his perch with one metal servo and started walking over to his make shift med bay that was set up near a wall. It wasn't as big or as impressive as the one back in Diego Garcia but it served its purpose. Unlike the med bay at Diego Garcia, this one didn't have metal berths or any human sized beds. After the bot set Sam down on a wooden crate gently, he turned back to the other Autobots who were watching concerned for the human that had done so much for them. "Do you mind? I'm trying to work here," The medic glared at them. Fearful of Ratchet's wrath in the shape of his wrench, the other Autobots wisely turned around and retreated from the pair in the corner.

The human, who was now leaning against the metal wall behind him, let out a sigh of relief as the other Autobots left them alone. He knew the other Autobots were worried about him but he had been uncomfortable with all of the stares. The bot in front of him turned to face him once more. "Thank you, Ratchet," He said softly.

"You are welcome. It is a shame this ship doesn't have an appropriate place to hold us besides this room. If there was, we would have more privacy," The Autobot replied. Having treated Sam before, he was well aware of the boy's modesty when it came to his body.

The human nodded as a reply and waited for the Autobot to scan him. When no immediate scan came, he raised an eyebrow. "Go ahead. We might as well get this over with." As if the Autobot had been waiting for permission, the human shivered at the feeling of the scan. Ratchet waited for permission. That is something you don't see every day. He thought amused.

The medic clicked disapprovingly as he got the results of his scan. The human had multiple cuts, bruises and burns all over his body. But that wasn't all. Sam's left hand was severely burned, his right ankle was sprained and he had a couple of cracked ribs. As of now, there were no signs of internal bleeding which he was thankful for but the boy's injuries needed to be attended to. The boy had also not been getting enough recharge or enough to eat. "You haven't been recharging or eating as much." It was a statement as well as an accusation. It was amazing the boy hadn't crashed yet.

The human winced at the point blank accusation. "I know. I've been having problems sleeping lately." As if to prove his and Ratchet's words, he yawned suddenly. "I'm sorry."

"You've been having dreams?"

Sam nodded. "They aren't that bad." At the medic's skeptical look, he quickly added; "It is nothing you guys have to worry about."

"I disagree. They are messing with your recharge cycle and hindering your recovery progress. These dreams… What do they feature?" Ratchet asked looking worried. If it was what he suspected, he would have to tell Optimus about it.

The human noticed the worry in the other's optics and figured they were for him and his injuries. He shrugged not wanting to tell the truth. "I dream about the events that have happened these past few days."

Relief went through the Autobot's body. So it wasn't what he had suspected. He could tell the human wasn't being entirely truthful with him though and wondered why. "I see. Why didn't you come to me when you first started having them?"

"I didn't want to worry you," Sam admitted sheepishly.

Ratchet made another disapproving click. "Please remove your clothing so that I may check your injuries."

The human hesitated. After glancing over the medic's shoulder to make sure the others weren't looking at them, he slowly removed his shirt and pants. He hissed at the pain as the clothes brushed against the injuries.

The medic was thankful that Bumblebee and Optimus wasn't looking at Sam right now for two reasons. First of all, the boy deserved his privacy. Second, they might blow a gasket at the sight of the boy's body. Sam was covered in white bandages. He carefully cut all of the white bandages off of the other's body so as to get a look of the injured body of his patient.

Sam shivered from the cold and winced as his injuries began stinging.

Looking at the human, Ratchet could tell that most of the burns on Sam's body were caused by Megatron's cannon. The Autobot took out a salve from subspace and opened it.

The boy noticed the new item in the bot's servos. "What is that? It looks like aloe."

Ratchet quickly looked up the new word on the Internet and was slightly surprised to find that the salve he was holding and the aloe that Sam mentioned were similar. "Yes. This salve is similar to the aloe you humans use. The burns you received due to Megatron's cannon won't heal by human methods alone. This salve will help with the pain and help the burns heal faster."

"Magical alien aloe. That is amazing," Sam said surprised. He shivered as the bot began gently administering the salve to his burns. The salve even felt the same as the aloe gel he would put on his sunburns. He was tempted to ask how the salve worked (especially since it is alien salve) but decided against it as he wasn't sure if he would understand the explanation.

After administering the salve, the bot put it away and started to gently treat the human's other injuries. He was careful when examining the human's burnt hand, sprained ankle and cracked ribs and made sure to wrap them in white bandages when he was done treating them.

A few minutes later, the human put his clothes back on sighing contently as he felt less pain than before. The bot gave a painkiller and a glass of water to the human. Sam swallowed the painkiller and water without complaint then blinked as his eyes started to close of their own accord. I feel like I forgot something important. The boy was sure that whatever it was, it could wait. Seconds later, darkness claimed his vision and he fell asleep.

The medic carefully held Sam to his chassis with his servos. After scanning the sleeping human and making sure his vitals were stable, he turned around and walked back over to the other Autobots (who were in their bi-pedal forms). The others turned around as they heard the medic walk over to them. Bumblebee tilted his head and gave a confused chirp at seeing his sleeping charge in the medic's metal arms.

"Sam hasn't been sleeping well these past few days so I had to resort to drastic measures in order for him to get some recharge," Ratchet said walking over to the human sized sofa that the humans had moved into the hangar. The human soldiers (who fought with them in Egypt) had suggested that some type of human furniture should be moved into the hangar in case the Autobots' human visitors got tired of standing so they had quickly moved one of the blue sofas from one of the recreation rooms on board the ship. "Why did you neglect to tell me, Ironhide?" He paused and shot the weapons specialist a withering glare.

"Why are you only targeting me? There were other Autobots that neglected to tell you," Ironhide argued. He would never admit to the others that even he was scared of the medic's temper (and trusty wrench).

"You were the one who saw him last," Was the simple answer he received as the medic turned back to the sofa and carefully placed the human onto it. Bumblebee inched forward careful not to make any loud noises with his foot pedes that would wake the human and covered the human with a blue blanket.

"Sleep well, Sam," Optimus said softly. He looked at the sleeping human with affection in his optics.

"SAMUEL JAMES WITWICKY!"

Sam, who was resting peacefully for once, bolted up at the loud sound. He blinked feeling groggy as he saw he was in the Autobot hangar on the sofa. What was he doing here? What was going on? Hearing a clicking sound to his right, he looked over to see Ratchet in his bi-pedal form standing next to him. His mind chose that moment to bring up why he was there. Strangely enough, he didn't feel as irritated as he thought he would be upon discovering that the medic had drugged him.

"Where is he?! I know my baby is in here!"

The boy groaned upon recognizing the voice that had woken him up. He slowly looked over to the hangar entrance unsurprised to see who it was.

An angry Judy Witwicky stood there looking up at his Autobot friends. She looked like she was about to go on a rampage.

That wasn't good.
