"What's your favourite colour?" Joey asked Lauren randomly, lying on the sofa in her living room, half-watching the TV, half-watching her.

"Black. Like my mood most of the time" she lifted her head to smirk at him. "Why?" she said, sat on the armchair the other side of the room to him, sketching some ideas out for a college project. He shrugged "Just wanted to know". It went quiet again, Joey caught up in his thoughts and Lauren, busy with her sketching.

"What's your favourite film?" his question interrupted the content quiet the couple had been sharing. "Urgh Joey." Lauren said, his voice breaking her concentration and making her go wrong. She started erasing her mistake. "I don't have one. Anything horror, or Mean Girls, not too fussed. Why?"

"No reason" She rolled her eyes, what was with him today, before going back to her sketching.

"When's your birthday?" he said randomly a few minutes later.

"Joey!" she called out, putting her sketch pad down. "What's with the stupid questions?" He just shrugged at her, so she threw her pencil at him, hitting him on the arm. "Talk to me, what's up?" He went to shrug again but at the look on her face, he stopped himself. "Just don't know the answers do I?"

Lauren was confused, she hardly thought knowing her favourite colour was relevant or that important. She could tell though for whatever reason had made him start asking questions, he was being serious. She said as much.

He just sighed "It's just..." he paused. "Tell me." He looked over at her. "I wanna know Joe. There's obviously a reason you think knowing my favourite colour is important." She rolled her eyes at him, sometimes she didn't have the patience, and she'd get answers if she was blunt and to-the-point, even if her mum did say she made situations awkward being like that.

"It's just if we'd grown up together, I'd know all these things" he said softly, she rolled her eyes. If they'd grown up together, they wouldn't be together. Ew gross. "Obviously we'd not be together now, but say if you were some normal chick" she interrupted her with her laughter. Did he actually just say she wasn't normal?

"You know what I mean Lauren" he said, scoffing at her. "If we'd done things normally, I'd know all these things about you, wouldn't I?" he shrugged. "Just bothers me I don't."

Things went quiet again.

"March 29th." He raised an eyebrow at her, "My birthday. March 29th. Anything else you are dying to know about me?" she said, smiling at her idiot of a boyfriend. He could have just said that all along instead of being random. He knew plenty about her, maybe not the little things everyone knew, but he could learn those over time. He knows things about her as only a lover could know. He knows things about her that only a new person could learn through observation. And he knew things about her because he had her full love and trust, and that made him know her different to most of the people who knew her.
