Unnoticed

Watching his dear sovereign yell at the maids for trivialities that could have been righted given time, the bystander could watch sadly, as she swung her scepter. It was a useless ideal to actually talk to her (no, talk to her, really talk to her) and force her to be more forgiving. She was a just ruler within her realm, but within her domain(Her castle. Her crown. Her power. All hers.) she was a temptress who eliminated the weak.

"Please, forgive me your grace!" It was a desperate plea for help. The Faceless looked at him, water pouring out of nowhere, and onto her cheeks. It was a sight that rendered him speechless. (You were once one of them. How could you not?)

Quickly, even if it caused him great pain and future scolding, he had to intervene. (You were the one who raised her.)

"Vivaldi, please, she is just a-" His smooth, but slightly cracking voice, gave way his concern. Because of his tendency to blend in his surroundings, his voice box was not given much exercise.

"Silence! She gave Us too much sugar in my tea! This filthy cur has to be taught a lesson. She deserves a beheading!" Nodding viciously to her guards, she waved her scepter about. "Do it-"

"Please, doesn't she get-"

"Stupid king," his student sneers. (You helped mold her. Its all your fault.) "If We don't rectify the problem at the roots, it will spread weeds!" Her purple hued nails tapped her staff, as if in a rhythmic dance. "Or are you challenging Us?" Her amethyst eyes hardened to ones of steel as she glared condescendingly.

He felt himself sweat as she began to play with her source of power by banging the jeweled side on her left palm.

One, two, slap.

(Another execution. You couldn't have stopped it.)

One, two, slap.

(Aren't you supposed to be powerful? You're pathetic, weak-)

"Can't we talk about this reasonably?" He raised his hands in a defensive manner. He wash't one to interfere directly with Her Majesty's arbitrary punishments, but the poor dear!

Her eyes remained focused on his, sheer determination at winning the argument.

(You created a monster. You created this mess. Its all you fault. Its all your fault. All yours. All yours.)

"Vivaldi!" Yet, when he finally thought Vivaldi was going to execute the poor serving girl, a ray of hope blossomed.

"Alice!" An uncharacteristically happy expression lit up the countenance of the harsh monarch. Rushing forward to the cerulean clothed girl, she managed to look striking and graceful while doing so. "Come, come. We implore you to have tea with Us."

However, the young lady carefully shrugged herself out of the queen's clutches and frowned at the scene in the hall. Her blue-green eyes, he noted was filled with sadness and concern for the Faceless that was going to be executed.

"What happened this time?" With a desolate look upon her face, she inquired of the people present.

"That useless peasant dared-" Her eyes were flashing dangerously as Vivaldi was once again reminded of the crisis that had arisen.

Shaking her head, the honey colored lady did not want to hear the story from the volatile ruler. Instead, her teal green eyes inspected his with an understanding gleam. Walking forward, as if to take a closer look, she solemnly bowed and her eyes locked with his eyes again.

"So what happened?"

(Perhaps there is a time when a ray of light shines.)

For once, he was noticed.
