--
Isabella Swan sighed as she saw Edward looking down at a book against a wall nearby. She looked over at her friends, she waved to them, and waited for them to walk away before she looked back over at him. He intrigued her. She didn't know why she wondered about him so often, but she did, and it was slowly distracting her when he was around her. During class, she would stare at him often, wondering why he didn't talk to anyone.
Her thoughts were cut off by the bell. She was going to worry about being late, but she decided she would take a chance in asking him, and taking a chance that her teacher would believe a made up excuse that she had just thought of.
She looked noticed that they were the only two in the hallway now. She watched as he closed his book and stood up from the wall. He hadn't even looked her way. He started to walk towards her direction in the middle of the hallway, she knew this was her chance. "Edward!" She said trying to get his attention.
Edward stopped, turned and looked at her. He had seen her in some of his classes, but he didn't pay much attention to the people who were around him here at the school.
Bella sensed that he wasn't going to say anything until she said anything, explaining to him why she had said his name. She had to chose through her mind carefully at that very moment to think of how she was going to ask him. "Why don't you talk to anyone?" She blurted out. She knew that that wasn't how she wanted to say that or even how to get into asking that, but she couldn't take it back. She wanted to know, and she wasn't above that.
Edward looked at her for a moment before he gave a small shrug. "Never was interested to." He told her.
"So you don't have any friends?" Bella asked taking a small step towards him. She shouldn't of asked that so quickly, she knew that, but that doesn't mean she would take it back and not know. She waited for an answer from him, she didn't get annoyed, but got even more curious than she had been before.
Again, Edward gave her a small shrug. "Not really." He replied. He didn't have much emotion in his voice, and he, himself was wondering why she wanted to know. There was nothing to gain, nothing to earn. She was asking from her own free will.
Bella wasn't sure what to say, but she felt bad. If he didn't have any friends, that means he had no one to talk to, maybe siblings, but it's not the same. She felt sorry for him. Maybe she could offer to be his friend. It would be a long shot, she knew, but she would be willing to take another chance. "I could be you friend." She offered. "If you want." She said nervously. She didn't know what it was about him, but he made her have an uneasiness she had never felt before. It was strange, so strange she didn't want it to go away.
"I'll see you around." Edward said to her. He turned around to walk away, but that didn't stop him from saying one more thing. "Bella, don't change." He said, knowing she had heard him, even though he wasn't facing her. He let a small smile appear on his face before he started to walk to his next class once again.
Bella stood in her spot. She didn't know what that meant, but she did know that this wasn't the last time she'd be talking to him. There was more she was curious to know.
Who knows, maybe he'd open up to her one day
