The Fall Post Ep

Episode recap: Flack had to put way Gavin Moran, his training officer after he tampered with evidence at a crime scene. Throughout the episode, Stella showed worry for Flack.

She saw the detective sitting there, alone in the upstairs meeting room. She knew she would find him here- it was 9:30pm so the room was bound to be empty, and that upstairs corridor a quiet, safe haven.

Detective Don Flack sat staring into his now cold Styrofoam cup of coffee. He didn't move when he heard the door open. He knew it would be Stella Bonasera. It had been a couple of hours since Gavin Moran had been officially "forced retired" from NYPD for his role in removing evidence from a robbery his secret son had been involved with. Stella placed a fresh cup of coffee in front of Flack, which he accepted silently.

"You did the right thing, Flack" she comforted. "I know" Flack admitted, "but I just feel so …" he was really searching for the right word. He felt emotional, but couldn't tie it down. He was conflicted – he felt guilty but he knew he did no wrong, he felt upset that all this time his mentor, who taught him so much, had been lying to him. He was worried what other cases Moran had doctored. He felt angry that Moran had put him in such a difficult position. He balled his hand into a small fist but relaxed it immediately when Stella placed her hand around it.

"Moran was a good cop and a great mentor. This has not changed any of that. It can't be excused what he did but it can't be forgotten about all the good he ash done in the past. You have to take comfort in that and you have you always remember that you did the right thing and are not responsible for Moran's forced retirement. Hey may not show it now, but in time he will admit exactly the same." During Stella's speech, Don had begun to wrap his hand around hers and caress her fingers – she hadn't pulled away. "You always know what to say to make me feel better Stella, thank you". Don's kind words made Stella tingle. She placed her spare hand on Flack's arm and said "it's because I care about you." It was time for Stella's words to make Don feel warm inside. The two sat for a few moments, caressing each other's hands. It was Stella who broke the connection. She got up lightly and headed to the door. "It's getting late, I'm heading home. Don't you be staying too much longer you hear?" she said, exiting the room. "I won't, night Stella" Don said lovingly as she disappeared from view. Stella's kind words ran through Flack's mind and he began to feel a bit happier again. Taking Stella's advice, he got up from the chair and headed for the door, feeling in a better place than when he entered there a few hours earlier.
