First fic. I do not own anything here.
No sadder sound salutes you than the clear,
Wild laughter of the loon.

Dick raced through the winding halls of the Reach's ship, greenish liquid slicked the floor beneath his feet, he was destroying their labs, radioactive materials crashed to the floor, pod shattered, computers sparked, flames licked the strange walls.
Black Beetle was on board, Nightwing and Black Beetle, the only living beings left, the Reach had run, now fearing humanity. The raven haired boy felt like throwing up, probably a clue to get out.
"Hello little bird."
Shit. Dick looked up to meet the eyes of the beetle. For some reason he knew he wasn't going to make it. And strangely, he was okay with that.
"Hey fat bug." If he was going down, he was going down with a smile. Black Beetle growled and grabbed Nightwing with one hand lifting him easily.
"I could crush you in a second, meat."
"Haven't I earned respect? Your creators are scared of me. You should be too."
Dick smiled again, he didn't even wince when he felt the grip tighten around his chest, nor did he flinch when he heard the cracking of his own ribs.
Black Beetle seemed very annoyed at that, since he growled and roared before throwing the boy clear across the room, sending him crashing into a wall, through, actually, then through another.
Nightwing groaned, feeling his broken bones screaming, he was able to turn over on his side, then on his hands and knees and stood up.
"You just don't know when to give up, do you?"
"We're both going down here; I intend to make you pay for what you did."
Beetle might have laughed, but honestly, Dick couldn't tell. The bastard killed Barry and Conner. That was enough.
Before Black Beetle knew what was going on, Nightwing was in the air, metallic head snapped to the side under one of his kicks. The acrobat flipped one, twice, three times, then a line cast out, wrapping around the beetle's arms, Dick tucked and slid between his opponents legs.
The crash that was heard rattled the entire ship, Nightwing's light feet tapped down on the Scarab attached to the villain's back.
"Normally I would have a cool one-liner, but I'm not in the mood. Beetle, meet boot. Hopefully that was good enough."
Dick slammed a small device down on the center of the Scarab. Lines of electricity ran all around the suit, some going up Dick's suit, he couldn't feel it.
Black Beetle did, he screamed, it sounded like music to Nightwing's ears.
Dick hopped gently off the steaming form of his victim, a large hole in the wall showed the sky, the clouds were nice. His gaze lowered to where he saw the bioship, still flying. He tapped his mask, zooming in; he smiled when he saw his Team, and the JL that were still on Earth were on board too.
Miss Martian pointed excitedly to where he was, he felt eyes on him, and they were all relieved that he was alive. He leaned against the wall, letting himself slide down.
Nightwing? You okay?
Fine Miss M.
We'll go get you. Hang on.
Don't. Leave, fast as you can.
But Ni-
There are bombs here, and labs, all about to explode. Just leave me.
No. We're coming to get you.
Bye.
He slipped his hand into his belt, fishing out a switch; he grinned, and then let out a piercing laugh, the kind he used to do, the kind that echoed, sending shivers down the spines of his enemies and making his friends grin right along with him.
Forgot what was funny.
Long after he had pushed the button and the bioship had been pushed away by the force of the explosion, his laughter still rang in their minds, ears and souls.
