AN: I haven't written anything in a really long time so this is probably terrible. I apologize ahead of time. I'm just trying to get back into the swing of things. I don't even really know what this drabble is. I welcome any constructive criticism on what I need to work on/improve.

For the first time in Steve's life, he actually felt comfortable in his own skin. (It only took being kidnapped by the very individuals he hated most and being turned into one of them.) But he doesn't like to dwell on that much. He was just happy to still be alive. He's so shocked after all he had said and done against the vampires, they let him live. Even better than that, they gave him a position within the authority.

Even with all of his luck, he still couldn't get the one man he loved. He'd gone to Jason and poured his soul out in front of him, and it just wasn't good enough. So he returned to his life as The Authority's new Nan Flannigan. He tried so hard to please Roman, to adjust to this new life he had been thrown into. He had so many urges and impulses, there were so many delicious humans near him constantly. It took everything he had not to sink his teeth into every person in sight. Apparently for a young vampire, he did have very good control. Of course it never felt like he did. He slipped up with Jason, the one human he didn't want to scare off.

When the coup of the Authority happened at first he was just hoping to stay alive. Once he drank the blood of Lilith, it felt like he had been set free. He no longer gave a damn about holding his impulses. Feeling the blood of Lilith and roaming the streets of New Orleans, he finally got the courage to approach Russel. There was just something about him that was so alluring. Maybe it was his looks, his charm, or his power. Hell, it was probably all of it. In the haze of the blood of Lilith he only remembers feeding and laughing with bloodstained faces, arms over each other's shoulders.

Steve was really shocked when the trance of Lilith's blood wore off and Russel continued to show interest in him. What would one of the most powerful vampires in the world want to do with a former vampire hating reverend who was just made yesterday? He didn't know, but he didn't really care either. His heart nearly skipped a beat every time he spoke to him. Russel showed him what it really meant to be a vampire. They went and fed and fucked and god, it just felt so damn good. Russel opened up to him enough to even show him his wolves, and Steve opened up a bit about his father. Then Russel gave him Emma, and he started to feel like Russel might actually care about him. Steve knew he was falling head over heels for Russel already.

When they danced in the frat house, the song playing couldn't have matched his feelings any better. As he looked into Russel's eyes he felt butterflies in his stomach. His nerves were sending sparks where Russel's hands were on his body. When Russel talked about walking in the sun, Steve was amazed. While he wanted to walk in the sun, he really just wanted to go with Russel wherever he was. As they spun with their arms around another, Steve looked down into Russel's eyes, pleading.

"Please. Take me with you."

Steve felt his heart skip a beat as Russel twirled him down.

"I thought you'd never ask."

In that moment he knew he had fallen in love with Russel Edgington. And that he was proud to be a Gay Vampire American.
