The sun rose over the pride lands against a red sky. The light touched the rugged pride rock and a small figure ran out of the den. It was the prince, a spitting image of his father, but with the looks of his mother. The young cub took in a deep breath and let out a large sigh, he then plopped his hind side down on the rock and watched the sun continue to rise at the tip of pride rock.

"Kopa what are you doing out here so early?" Simba said walking up behind him.

"Dad, hehe, I was just watching the sun..." Kopa replied in a nervous manner.

Simba only looked down at him with a smirk on his face before he spoke.

"Come to the summit with me"

"OK!" Kopa then jumped up and trotted after him.

"You see Kopa, everything the light touches is our kingdom." Simba said proudly.

"Wow, it's amazing." Kopa replied as his wide eyes glared out at the vast savannah before him.

"And you know what?" Simba brought himself down to Kopa's level. "When I'm gone, this will all be yours."

"Wow, really? "

"Mhmm." Simba then stood up and started to walk away.

"Dad where are you going?" Kopa snapped.

Simba glanced back "Well I am going to take a walk. Aren't you coming?"

Kopa did not reply, he only shook his head and giggled, then followed his father down pride rock.

Simba took kopa on the same route that his father did when he was Kopa's age. These walks were part of a very important training, a training for kings. It was very important that Kopa understood the roles that every animal had in the great circle of life. They weren't just food, they were allies and more importantly, friends. Something that Simba's uncle, Scar, did not understand.

It was better that Simba didn't talk about his uncle around Kopa. He knew one day Kopa would know the truth about what happened. But for now, for the sake of his up bringing, Scar was better left un-said.

"Hey Kopa!" Jolani said as she ran out of the tall grass and pounced on Kopa. He fell to the ground with a thud and looked up at Jolani with a smile.

"Haha, hey Jolani." Kopa giggled.

Simba looked down at the two laughing and smiled.

"Kopa I will leave you here with Jolani." He walked over to the two cubs "This lesson can wait for another day." Simba then began to walk away. Kopa turned his head to see his father glance back at him and wink. Kopa only stared in silence at his father walking away.

"Kopa...? Kopa whats wrong?" Jolani said with a worried look on her face.

"N-n-nothing! Nothing at all! Hehe. " Kopa said while blushing. The pink on his cheeks showed up perfectly against his light creamy skin.

Jolani giggled then licked him on the cheek. Kopa flipped his head towards Jolani in shock. Then Jolani jumped up in the air and hopped away giggling. Kopa only rolled his eyes and ran after her laughing.
