A Princess in a Cellar
With each breath she could feel more and more pain rush into her body, but she had to keep breathing, she had to.
Sara had just been kidnapped by the Miniature Killer, and now she was trapped under a car. Cold, bloody, and weak. She barely had enough strength to breathe. She felt alone, isolated. Like no one was going to save her.
For some reason, all Sara could think about was her mom. How she would tell bedtime stories to her filled with princesses who were trapped, and how a handsome prince always rescued them.
She felt like one of those princesses right now, trapped, alone, and waiting for her prince to come and rescue her.
Grissom was Sara's prince. Would he find her before she died? Like Snow White? Sleeping Beauty? Cinderella?
Sara's hand was sticking out from underneath the car, it was raining. Which would make it harder for anyone to find her.
What if I'm not found?
What if I die before my prince comes and saves me?
Those thoughts were brutal, but she knew that they were possible realities.
What if she was the princess who stayed in the cellar she was hidden in? All fairytales end well but this wasn't a fairytale, It was reality.
The thought that she would be the princess who was never found frightened her, with her little strength she had left, a single tear trickled down her cheek. Just one solemn tear. If her prince was here, he would wipe her tear away, but he wasn't here. Did he even know she was gone?
I need to be found! I will be found! I will get my happy ending! she told herself. She had made a decision, she was going to hold on for as long as she could.
Hours went by, still, no one. But she wasn't giving up, someone will find me! she kept telling herself, just hold on! it had started to rain harder, making it hot and uncomfortable under the car.
More time passed. Nothing.
Even though Sara was keeping positive, she was slipping, she didn't have much longer.
Sara just laid there, eyes closed, doing nothing else but breathing. She couldn't do anything else.
She was slipping in and out of consciousness. Sara knew she was at the line, the line between life and death and one more step, she would be gone.
No one is going to find me.
Was her last thought before she went unconscious. Just then, her body was jerked from underneath the car, she was now outside. The cool drizzle from the rain soothed her skin. She was laying in someone's arms but she was too weak to know who it was, she just laid limp in whoever was holding her.
But, she soon figured out who it was. The person who was holding her squeezed her so tight that she knew it was Grissom.
With her only ounce of strength she opened her eyes, it was Grissom.
She was saved by her prince.
And they all lived happily ever after, She recited in her head.
