fandom: Final Fantasy VII & Final Fantasy IX (crossover)
title: Wonderful Tonight (that was the song that was in my head as I wrote this — "Wonderful Tonight" by Eric Clapton.
genre: Romance
rating: G
pairing: Reno/Garnet
summary: Reno and Garnet are getting ready to go out. (premiered 08.26.05 in my oldest writing journal)
notes: Written for my friend Renay for a challenge thing where they were to choose a pairing, a color, a verb and a scent... and I had to write a fic with those!

Reno waited in her apartment's living room.

Girls, always with their taking so long to get ready.

...But for any other girl he'd known — granted, most of them had been one-night stands — he'd never have been so willing to wait this long. Besides, it never mattered with them. Dolling up would have been a complete waste of time, because their clothes would have ended up on the bedroom floor.

Not her.

Twenty minutes and most of a TV show later, she came out. Her dress... it was truly breathtaking. Green was by far the best color on her; it accented her deep, chocolate-colored eyes and her long dark hair.

"You look..." And he couldn't even finish the sentence, like saying the obvious would spoil the moment and all.

Garnet only giggled, in that polite aristocratic way, where she put her fingers lightly over her mouth as if it was so shameful to do the action. Reno was charmed by this, so it caused him to smile.

"Ready to go?" he asked.

"Yes," came her soft-voice reply.

He held out his arm and she hooked hers through. As he leaned in to kiss the side of her head, he got a whiff of her lavender perfume, and just leaned his head in against hers for a moment.

No one could get to him like she could.

AN: I'm currently in the process of moving several of my stories from my personal writing journal on LiveJournal (607am) to here. I'm keeping them at the aforementioned journal, though ... just putting them on here as well. :) Bigger audience, and stuff.
