I've had a bit of a writers with my other story, so here's a one-shot of Jack n Rapunzel having fun in her tower xx
"Come on, it's easy!" I rolled my eyes and handed him my best paint brush.
"So you say…" Jack answered, giving me an apprehensive look.
"Oh come on. Not that one, the blue paint!" I sighed audibly as he passed me the pot. "Just don't over-think it."
"Okay… But what should I paint?"
"That's the whole point! Anything, everything- whatever you want."
Jack Frost bit his lip thoughtfully, a habit that made me hide a smile. "Well, what are you painting?"
"Who does it look like?" I gestured towards the figure I was adding colour to on the canvas.
"No, no, no Punz. He is nowhere near attractive enough to be me." Jack gave me a hellish smirk, but stopped when he saw me reach for my trusted frying pan.
"Too soon?" I joked, giving him a teasing smack on the back of his head.
"Ow! Yes! I mean, Punz…" He flew next to me and showed his best 'hurt' expression. "You almost gave me brain damage!"
I laughed and wiped a strand of hair out of my eyes. "You know, sometimes you really remind me of someone."
"Oh let me guess, the bogey man? The palace horse?"
"Actually you're not far off…" I turned round to see his expression and giggled. "I'm kidding, I'm kidding. I meant you remind me of Eugene."
Suddenly Jack stiffened and looked at his feet. "…Eugene?"
Only then I realized how little he knew about my real life. The life I left behind and the one I must return to. "Eugene is my husband."
"What?!" He sharply lifted his gaze to meet mine. "You're married?"
"Yes. And I have been for about a year."
"Why didn't you tell me?" He asked softly.
"…Why do you care?" There was a flicker of something in his eye, but it was gone before I could analyse it.
I tried to change the subject.
"Anyway, show me what you've painted!" I said walking round him to look at his canvas.
"I haven't it started yet." Jack said bluntly.
"But… it's art, Jack! You're not that stupid, are you?" I replied, attempting to lighten the mood.
It worked because Jack burst out laughing and grabbed my arm. "You want to see my art, Punz?" He said, dragging me towards the window.
"Okay...?" I responded nervously.
"Then watch this Princess!" He planted me in front of the window.
"That's Queen to you!" I laughed, pretending to be not as worried as I felt about what this boy was going to do.
Slowly, Jack lifted his hands to the glass and all I could do was gasp when sparkling ice formed like spider webs across the pane. He looked back at me and laughed at my amazement. "Jack… It's beautiful."
"You think that's impressive?" He motioned up to the ceiling flakes of snow appeared, swirling around me as they fell to the floor.
"Dance with me?" he asked, holding out his hand.
"Of course." I smiled.
He really was magical.
