fandom: Final Fantasy IX
title: Life Lesson
genre: General
rating: G
pairing: None; Vivi and Eiko friendship.
summary: Vivi writes an extra letter to someone else on the team who had a pretty big impact on him. It's kinda spoilery. (premiered 09.07.05 at my oldest writing journal.)

Zidane's helped me a lot, I know. Everyone has, really. Dagger's been sort of the mother I never had. Freya urged me to face my fears, regardless of what might come with it. Steiner believed in me even when I couldn't. Even Quina and Amarant each had something to teach me, even in pretty indirect ways; from Quina I learned that I should enjoy life and everything it has to offer, and Amarant made me realize that sometimes you really can't make it all on your own.

... Then there was you, Eiko.

After we got rid of the Mist, and I worried that the other Black Mages would hate me for it, you told me I should always be honest with myself. ...I think that your lesson stood out to me the most, really. The other things can change, maybe, but no matter what, no one should ever be untruthful to themself. I believed this all through the rest of the adventure, too. And when I went back to Black Mage Village, I gave them the same advice, because I believe in it and I wanted them to, too.

So I just wanna say... thank you. I'll always remember what you told me that day at the Iifa Tree.

AN: I'm currently in the process of moving several of my stories from my personal writing journal on LiveJournal (607am) to here. I'm keeping them at the aforementioned journal, though ... just putting them on here as well. :) Bigger audience, and stuff.
