Looking Down Upon My Death

A one shot by Reiia

Something was horribly strange... It was quiet, too quiet.

I awoke to silence and pitch blackness with my arms laid across my chest. Slowly and carefully, I untangled my hand and waved it in front of me. Nothing. I could see nothing, but I fully knew that I was moving it. I put my arm down once again, and flipped over with a groan. Huh, and I was dressed head-to-toe in a cuff-buttoned shirt, newly ironed trousers, and snug shoes. And I was sore stiff, terribly stiff, almost as if I had been frozen for weeks. To add to my discomfort, the air was stuffy and sticky like a warm, moist blanket eating away at my flesh.

Ah! Forget about that, where was I? Think! What was I doing last night, and where was I then?

The flashbacks shot through my mind as I recalled all my memories from our last encounter.

It started at the bar. Then at night in the alley. Soon enough, at the door step of my apartment. There was someone after me, stalking me, and hunting me down. And then last night... that person caught me. No, I allowed him to, and it was raining... crimson blood, my blood. But when I did make it out alive, away from the torture and pain, with only my two hands to drag me to safety, I collapsed to the floor to meet my determined fate- Death.

But what happened after that? Nothing, I couldn't remember anything else. Was I dead? Alive?

Then it hit me, it was all a plan. He planned it fromthe start, and I was too careless to even notice it gradually taking place.

I gasped from with all that was left and touched the cold, marble wall beside me. My god. It can't be...The panic engulfed me all at once, it was like a nightmare- to be in a box.

Trapped, and funereally sealed.

Bleh. So how do you like it? I wrote this in about 15 minutes after my math study, with some later edits writing it onto this document of course. Please REVIEW.

Also, if you're confused, as you probably are, I'll explain the story behind it. Basically at some point Kaoru was taken by Enishi, or "killed" from Keshin's point of view. And Kenshin wanted to give up, as he literally did in the book, and in a way, Kenshin wanted to die. So Enishi hunted him down, killed him, but left him living... barely (knowing that he woud live). But some other people found him "dead," burried him, and then he awoke trapped in a box. Yes, in one night. I mean, he had no family, what else would people do with a "rotting" body?

I hope I haven't confused you any further, haha.

Enjoy.
