Hiya! A while back ago, I wrote a 'Never Coming Back' story about Annabeth running away from home. Recently, I thought of an idea to do a second one about Nico. I know this isn't necessarily accurate with the book, The Titan's Curse but I thought of this idea and decided to work with it.
Context: Part when Nico runs off into the woods; It's what I thought would be going through his mind then.
Disclaimer: I don't own this scene or any of the characters! All rights go to Rick!
I only own the parts I made up :)
So, here it is! :D
Never Coming Back 2: Never Be Forgiven
Nico's Point of View:
I can't handle it anymore. The lies, the exclusion, and most of all, the broken promises. There are some things that I could handle, though. Like getting my food catered to me by fantasy creatures whenever I'm hungry and getting to play capture the flag every Friday. But the things I couldn't handle would scar me forever.
"Nico! Wait up!" Percy runs after me. The four just got back from their quest to free Artemis and five people went, which means that one, lucky person was left behind. Note the sarcasm there. But that one person who didn't return happened to be my sister.
"No!" I shout back as I dart into the woods filled with all different types of monsters. Too bad I don't have a weapon…
"Nico, she could still be alive. We don't know for sure!" he calls back.
"She isn't!" I exclaim as I stop running and turn around. "I could feel her death. She's in the Underworld right now being evaluated!"
"How do you know that?" Percy asks as he catches up with me.
"I don't know! I can just feel it!" I say through my teeth. "She's getting judged to see what part of the Underworld she is going to be in! How could you do this to me? She was the only family member I had left!"
"Nico, listen, I'm sorry," he tells me.
"You lied to me! You broke your promise! You promised to protect Bianca!" I shout, trying to hold tears from falling from my dark onyx eyes.
"I know I broke my promise, but she sacrificed herself! I tried to do it, but she refused. Please, Nico. Don't do this." Percy tries.
"Don't tell me what to do!" I yell, anger flaring off of my words. "You killed my sister!"
"I'm so sorry, Nico!" Percy informs me. "It wasn't my fault!"
"Is that a lie too? I can't trust you after you let this happen. You broke one promise, you won't be afraid to lie to me" I tell him. "I lost all my respect for you!"
"I tried to change it, Nico. I honestly did. But her fate was to die on this quest, and you can't change fate." Percy explains.
"But you can alter them!" I stomp my foot on the ground.
"Not all the time," Percy tells me. "Nico, she was destined to die."
"How could you say that?" I scream. "That's my sister we're talking about. I HATE YOU!"
"Nico… calm down!"
"DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO!" I shout at him. All of a sudden, a pain in my gut forms and a loud crack erupts from the ground, forming a large hole.
"Nico… What did you do?" Percy gasps, looking down at the hole.
"What did YOU do?" I cry. "I'll give you a hint. YOU LET MY SISTER DIE!" Skeleton warriors emerge from the ground, like zombies trying to come out of a grave. The warriors begin to fight Percy and I find it the perfect time to escape. With nothing but pain and betrayal in my mind, I run deeper inside the woods and soon, Percy's screams to try and get me to come back are nonexistent. Maybe he gave up, maybe he died. Either one, I could care less. He hurt me and because of that, he can never be forgiven.
