A/N: Hi! Thanks so much for reading this chapter. Unfortunately its all I have at the moment, but I am talking with my partner and hopefully progress will start being made soon.
I just want to clarify a couple of things first. 1, I am working with a partner so some days I may upload 1 chapter and some days I may upload 3. It all depends on how quickly we get chapters done. But one thing will remain the same. I will upload only completed chapters. But I probably won't be updating for a while. I'm still caught up in writing another fanfic of mine, so this one's on the backburner. I've only added it so people can read it, and so I'd have more stories. 2, my partner and I aren't entirely sure where we want this one to go, so if you have any suggestions please PM me or review. We'd be glad to hear what you have to say! 3, the title is just a temporary title. I've already broached the subject with my partner and hopefully I'll be changing the title to a better one soon.
Okay, I think that's all I wanted to say. I hope you enjoy this...very short chapter, and I look forward to reviews and suggestions! Have a wonderful day!
Scan, check, fix, scan, test, accept.
She inwardly groaned as she repeated the same process over and over. She glanced up at the clock, before indulging herself in yet another section of the main field. Why Yui assigned her and no one else to the gigantic field was anyone's guess. After all, it was a very tedious process. She had to scan all of the codes for the files in view, check to make sure everything was right and bug-free, fix any found bugs, test out the new field, and then depending on the results, she could either accept the field or go back to the beginning of the pattern to be sure everything was correct.
As she stared at the screen, she could feel her temples throb and her muscles tense with the stress. This was a very complicated and difficult process, and she had already been at this since she came in this morning. A glance at the clock told her it was already 3 o'clock - that's three hours of debugging without a break.
Then again, she mused, reaching up to rub at her temples. I do need to make good progress today. Maybe I should stop once I get to the waterfall. That's only another three fields. I can do that, right? Now, focus. The cave is ahead next.
As she accepted the current field and moved onto the cave, the power went out, plunging everyone into darkness. She caught her breath for a moment then turned down the brightness of her computer, double-checking her wireless power. She could hear the quiet, concerned voices of her colleagues. Peering around, she made sure no one was watching her –easy enough to do since she was sitting alone, well away from the others - and quickly inserted an extra code, disguising the newly added bug as part of the cave wall. She hit the accept button and was taken to the cliff face to edit.
A small cheer erupted closer to the exit as the lights flickered back on, and she increased her brightness just before Yui popped up on her screen. She flashed the little pixie a smile, and Yui waved back before disappearing for another computer. She let a small sigh of relief escape her lips. Yui didn't suspect a thing, which meant that Kirito wouldn't either. Finally, she would have her revenge against him.
