Summary:
Some days he can't help but imagine what it could have been like.
A Corrupted Mind
He's been haunted since that day. Ghosts of what could have been lingering in the back if his mind. Whispers of a happiness he's yet to find. He tilts his head, gazing into the mirror and imagines arms closing around him, fingers light against his skin as they fall quickly into blissful oblivion.
But thoughts are like torture and her face floods his mind. Twinkling eyes, a coy smile and the way she says his name. He knows he shouldn't.
Closing his eyes, he pushes thoughts of her aside, breathing in heaven and feeling home.
They play games. Back and forth, push and pull, like they're in the playground. Laughing and crying in the darkness, a shadow of what they could have been.
He loves the 'what ifs' more than he loves her. The idea of more than one night won't leave him alone. Taste of alcohol on his lips and snow in his hair. Ten more minutes alone.
Starved of the silence and waiting, wanting. Breathless kisses, eyes on his, a kaleidoscope of colour. Lost in the past and scared to let go. He goes back again and again. Memorising, painting a picture in his mind and losing all sense of control.
The moment haunts him, so surreal, teasing and tantalising.
He won't forget. He can't forget.
Hanging onto a memory and hoping for more. Perfection waits for no one. The time has passed. He lives in a world of forgotten voices.
Eyes closed to the world, he relives his downfall, the tainted kisses of infatuation making him crawl with desire. He loves the thrill. He's out of his mind but he doesn't know how to stop himself.
Reflections of yesterday, sweet temptation, he'll never say no.
