Title: True Feelings

Series: Enterprise

Rating: K+

Summary: A different ending to episode 4x10 Daedalus.

This isn't my best by a long shot. In my defense, I wrote this at 3am! I had an idea that I needed to write down, so don't hate on the suckiness of this story. :]

As Trip was reading Romeo and Juliet on a PADD in his quarters, there was a chime at the door. When Trip got up and answered the door, he found T'Pol was standing in his doorway.

"May I come in?" T'Pol asked. Trip said nothing. He merely stood out of the way, allowing her in the room. She entered the room and waited until he was facing her to start talking. "I'm going through something that's very complicated."

"I know."

"I'm learning, it seems for the first time, what it truly means to be Vulcan." Even though T'Pol was fidgety, she kept looking directly at him.

"Well, maybe you can fill me in." Trip said sincerely.

"When I told you that I felt nothing about my mother's death… it wasn't true." T'Pol finally looked away from Trip. "I… miss her."

T'Pol found it too difficult to stand so she sat down on his bed. Trip sat down next to her and said, "T'Pol, you mother is gone and there is nothing wrong with admitting that you miss her. It's never going to be okay that she's gone, but it will get better."

Trip takes her hand. "I promise you that."

A tear escapes T'Pol's eyes and before she could swipe it away, Trip reached up and stopped the tear with a finger.

"Trip, I…" her voice cracked. "Could I remain here tonight? I do not wish to be alone right now."

"Of course you can."

They both lie back on the bed, facing each other. Trip puts his arms around T'Pol and they fall asleep.
