It was 8:30 pm in the Lizewski house, Mindy was in the process of putting her three year old daughter Alice into bed for the night. Mindy had tucked Alice in, and brushed her brunette curls out of her eyes when Alice asked, "Mommy can you tell me a story?" After appearing to think it over for a second Mindy replied, "sure sweetheart."
"Once upon a time there was a prince," Mindy started. Alice interrupted, "was he handsome?" "Oh yes, he was very handsome," Mindy replied. Then she continued, "like many princes, he sought to win the hand of a princess. He learned that the evil Dread-lock Knight had hurt the princess, and was continuing to threaten her. He decided that he would win the princess' heart by defeating him so that he would never bother her again.
So, the prince headed to the Dread-lock Knight's keep and was allowed to enter by the knight's guard. When he met with the knight, he told him to leave the princess alone. The knight refused and challenged him to battle. Unfortunately, he was quickly pinned down by the knight's foot soldiers, and the knight seemed poised to strike a mortal blow."
"What happened next?" Alice asked. "The shield maiden arrived, and rescued the prince," Mindy answered. "Did he and the princess live happily ever after?" Alice asked. "No," Mindy replied "He continued to court the princess for a while, but it didn't work out, but by then he wasn't very disappointed. He and the shield maiden had become good friends, and gone on many adventures together, and eventually they realized that they loved each other. So, they married and lived happily ever after." With that, Mindy kissed Alice on the forehead, wished her goodnight, and left the room.
When Mindy stepped into the hallway, she felt a pair of arms encircle her, and a hand reverently came to rest on her pregnant belly. "Dread-lock Knight?" Dave whispered. "Well, calling Razul the Black Knight seemed a little bit, incredibly racist," Mindy replied with a smirk. Then she said, "let's go to bed my handsome prince." Dave grinned and said,"after you, my beautiful shield maiden."
