The city was ravaged,
Broken and burned.
This was due to one tainted old god,
The darkspawn sickness had turned.

It became an archdemon.
A battle hard fought,
To get to this moment,
Where everything else matter naught.

Just the Warden and it,
Was all that remain.
Red dragon was dying.
The Warden's duty it was to make it lie slain.

All was quiet,
Almost eerily so,
As the Warden pulled the unknown sword,
And ran towards the Warden's long awaited foe.

Everything slowed down,
As the Warden thought about the past.
All the friends the Warden had made.
The memories that forever would last.

A templar, a dog, and an apostate,
A qunari, a bard, and a Circle mage,
A dwarf, a golem, and an assassin,
Describing each of them could take full page.

They were all different,
Yet they helped the Warden to get to this part.
Each one with a different motive to join,
But ending the Blight was the reason at the heart.

Now the Warden stood,
For them and for Ferelden all,
At the head of dragon that threaten everything,
Ready to do the Grey Warden's duty and make it fall.

It roared its ugly little head.
The Warden sliced its throat clean through,
That silenced its shrieking for good,
Onto the ground it fell in a blood puddle anew.

The Warden did not stop there,
As it was not dead yet.
The Warden raised the sword again,
A strategy for the final blow was laid set.

The Warden drove it down hard,
In vengeance and anger,
Into the skull of the dragon,
Knowing the final blow could spell danger.

A white light emerged,
Threaten to set the Warden flying.
The Warden held on firmly to the hilt of the sword,
Knowing this was all happening because the dragon was dying.

The Warden could see all images,
Of the ones who had their lives' loss,
At hands of the darkspawn and their taint,
With the archdemon as the Blight's head boss.

King Cailin, Duncan, and Riordan,
Just to name a few,
And all the other unnamed, unsung heroes,
That did not live as well to see the day the old god be slew.

All this kept the Warden focus,
On keeping the sword in its place.
The battle sounds still were coming up from below,
Hopefully they were winning and not just saving face.

Suddenly the Warden was uprooted,
When the dragon exploded.
The Warden was thrown back with a great force,
As the Warden's shiny armor was almost left corroded.

The Warden landed with a crash,
As the cheers from below did sound.
The darkspawn began to flee as their leader was gone.
They had no brain to lead them and most went back underground.

The Warden's eyes closed at the sound,
As the Warden's consciousness was lost.
The Blight ended before it started,
But then again at what cost?
