Disclaimer: I don't' own YuGiOh. If I did, you would know.
The saying is, if's it broken, fix it.
The problem was he was so broken, no one knew where to start.
Not that Bakura would ever let them.
He was just a spirit without a body, a clock without a tick. A broken radio that only sends out white noise, driving you insane but you miss it when its gone. He was lies, deceit and deadly hatred all rolled up into one and released upon the world.
But at the same time, he was the sobbing little boy who watched his family be murdered and melted down in front of him. He was the not-quite-hard enough teenager who struggled to survive in the harsh world with no one there for him. He was the King of Thieves, who swore to take revenge on the person who took everything from him and who had no interest in the truth of the matter.
He was all of these things rolled into one person, but no one cared enough to try to understand him. No one cared enough to even try and fix him.
That was until Marik came along.
He was just as broken as Bakura was, with his madness carved into his back and a devilish smirk for every occasion. He was annoyingly curious and determined enough to wear even Bakura's infinate patience thin until the story came tumbling out over a open bottle of beer and cigarettes.
He hated that Marik had finally managed to get it out of him; he had sworn never to tell a soul until he spat it in the Pharaoh's face and made him see the truth of things. But as it was, Marik just smirked, put his beer down and did something Bakura never expected.
Grabbed his shoulders and pulled him into a rough kiss.
It wasn't perfect, but then again neither of them were. It was all rough teeth and hands pulling hair and bruised lips. Bakura found himself smirking as he pulled back, seeing the dazed look in Marik's eyes before diving back in for another kiss.
They may both be broken, but at least now they could be broken together.
