Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter, blah, blah, blah.

A/N: I just felt like writing about Valentine's Day, whatever. I'll update my other stories later.

He gasped as he saw her come down the stairs. She was gorgeous. Her curls were cascading down her shoulders and her subtle make up enhanced her features. He watched as she walked down the stairs carefully, making sure not to step on her dress. As she reached the bottom step, she looked around the room. All eyes were on her. He imagined himself dancing with her, not a care in the world. If only.

It was torture for him. He saw her everywhere he went. His thoughts were occupied with visions of her. He relished the glimpses of her that he caught while she was busy studying. He was infatuated; some even dared to say he was in love.

He was snapped back to reality by a hand leading him to the dance floor. "Let's dance!" the woman said. It took him a minute to realize she was his date. While half-heartedly dancing, he watched her. He watched as she danced along with her friends, he watched as she went to get the punch for herself and her date. He was disgusted with the lack of manners her date showed. He didn't deserve to take such a gorgeous woman to the dance.

Soon, a slow song came on. His date decided to find someone different to dance with, she could take a hint. He watched her and she waited for her date to offer to dance with her. He was too busy chattering with his friends, he paid no attention to her. He watched as she tapped her date on the shoulder, asking him to dance with her. He watched as he laughed in her face. She walked out of the Great Hall in a rush; he noticed the tears forming in her eyes.

He left the Great Hall shortly after. He knew exactly where she would be. Just like he had predicted, she was in the Library, quietly crying. He watched her for a while before approaching her. He knew how she would react.

"Get out! Just leave me alone," she yelled as she saw him approaching. "I don't need your taunting right now."

"You have no clue, do you?" He asked her. It bewildered him how the smartest witch could be them most oblivious.

"What are you talking about?" She asked. Her puffy eyes and tear streaked face was clouded with confusion.

"I'm in love with you. I have been since you saved my life, even though you probably shouldn't have. I've noticed everything you've done since then. You have no clue how hard I worked to ensure that I would be made Head Prefect so I could share commons with you. He doesn't deserve you and I would dance with you any day at any time. You are my definition of perfection."

He could read the shock on her face. "Really?" she questioned.

"I wouldn't have said it if I didn't mean it. May I have this dance?"

She took the hand he held out and they started dancing. Although the music was faint, they danced until it stopped. As they were walking back to their shared commons, arms linked, someone called out to her.

"Where did you go? I searched everywhere for you!" her date said.

"I was in the Library. You must not have looked hard enough because I was found very quickly."

"Well do you want to go to the party in the Gryffindor common rooms?"

"I'm sorry, but no. I have better things to do." She turned around and continued walking.

"Why did you turn him down?" he asked.

"Because I would much rather spend my time with you." She replied as she leaned over to kiss him on the cheek. "I think this could be the start of something wonderful."

A/N: Epilogue? You let me know if you want it!
