Disclaimer: I do not own FMA. *sigh*
This is just a short little one-shot I thought of. Nothing special. Hope you enjoy!
To anyone reading Breathe: I currently have the next chapter written. I am so sorry I haven't been able to post it! I've been having trouble with wifi so I haven't been able to. Hopefully it will be up soon! :'(
"Miss Riza? Why did you become a soldier?"
" Because there's someone I have to protect."
Winry smiled softly at the memory. Someone to protect. She looked over to where a certain tiny blond alchemist lay sleeping fitfully on the couch behind her. His brow was creased and his face was pulled down in a pained grimace. Winry sighed as her eyes travelled to his shining right arm, the source of all his grief. He had just gotten his arm reconnected, seeing as how he'd come back to Resembool with his arm in pieces. Again. She frowned as Ed moaned in discomfort, tossing in his sleep. She sighed as she sat beside him on the couch. She rested her hand gently atop his head, carefully twining her fingers through his soft, golden locks. She stroked through his hair slowly, hoping to bring him at least some little bit of relief. Her eyes widened slightly as he turned over, trapping her hand under his cheek while he nuzzled closer to her. He sighed softly in content, his face slowly relaxing little by little. She smiled softly, her eyes softening as she watched over his still sleeping form. Again, her eyes slid over the solid steel that made up his arm, and then his left leg. Her eyes shined with determination. She would continue to make him the best automail yet. She'd be the best automail mechanic he could ever have. And at the end of the day, she'd be there for him, patiently waiting for the day he'd come back home, with both his and Al's bodies restored. She'd wait for him. However long it took. She'd wait forever if she had to.
She would always be there.
She smiled ad she leaned forward, bending over his small frame to plant a small kiss on his smooth forehead.
"I'll protect you. In any way I can."
