Title: Conflict
Fandom: Final Fantasy: Advent Children
Claim: Kadaj
Theme: 2) I love you
Rating: G
Word Count: 338
Summary: This is mother's will, nothing else matters.
Notes: Written for the 7lies community. I tried to show Kadaj's more childlike side and the inner conflict between his own personality and Sephiroth's will. I'm not sure if I managed it too well but I think I did okay. Probably could've been a bit more developed but ah, well. Comments and constructive criticism most appreciated!

The teen could only watch as his Souba, fell through the air, clattering uselessly on the ground. Looking up he saw his adversary standing on the ledge above, sword tilted downwards. For the first time in his life, he was scared.
'I love you, Kadaj.'
It was okay though because mother would save him, she loved him. She was Mother.
'I'll protect you.'
So where was she? She said she'd protect him! She promised!
He stared back at the blonde whose blue eyes narrowed, they were cold, hard and filled with...pity?
Pity, hah! Big brother was a fool! He should save his pity for himself, mother loved him, mother would save him, mother was...
...going to let him die
Cloud tensed, tightening his grip on the sword as a wild look flashed in the remnant's eyes.
He was going to die.
H was going to die and she wouldn't do anything to help him because...he wasn't the one she wanted. In those visions, when she came to him at night and took him in her arms whispering about the glorious future they would have and how they would all come together, it hadn't been him she'd embraced, had it?
Was she imagining stroking longer, fuller hair while she held him? Picturing colder, harder eyes closing in contentment as she whispered promises of a golden future?
Had he been destined to die all along?
Cloud looked up, momentarily distracted as he watched the box hurtle through the air.
"This is mother's will, it doesn't matter who she chooses in the end!"
His words with Rufus echoed in his mind. 'That's right, nothing else matters.'
Realization kicked in and Cloud started to move but it was too late. He watched in horror as the remnant clutched the box to his chest, the fluid seeping into his body. Blue eyes met catlike green and the teen smirked.
'But...' a small voice whimpered in the back of his mind.
"Now, I'll show you...my reunion"
'Mother...'
'We'll be together.'
'...lied!'
