When Morning Came…

A request by Lady Krystalyn and a follow up from Nightmares. Please read Nightmares first.

The sun drifted through the windows of the Shera. Crimson eyes opened slowly, Vincent couldn't recall the event that happened that night. He went to sit up when something stopped him. He looked down and saw a thin arm around his waist and another arm below the back of his shoulders. Quickly he looked to his side and saw Yuffie sleeping peacefully. His heart thudded quickly in his chest.

Why is Yuffie here? What happened last night? Did something happen? Vincent's thoughts were racing through his mind, unclear of how the current situation came to be. Whilst he was thinking Yuffie opened her eyes.

"Morning Vince" She greeted smiling at him.

Vincent turned to look at her. "Yuffie what happened last night?"

"Not even a good morning even after a helped you last night"

"Helped me? What do you mean?" He sat up quickly.

"Whoa, calm down Vincent, gee you're awfully tense"

"Yuffie what happened?" Vincent said eyes narrowing.

"You had a nightmare last night and I came in and helped you get back sleep, you didn't want me to leave so I stayed with you"

Vincent's eyes widened and he dropped his head down. "I'm sorry Yuffie"

"For what?" Yuffie sat up as well.

"Being so immature, it was my problem, I should have faced it alone" He stood up to take his leave.

"Hold on a minute, Valentine" She pulled him back down onto the bed. "Listen to me, you shouldn't have to face it alone, everyone needs comfort sometimes, whether it is if someone goes to the Lifestream or if it's a nightmare, you can't bottle up your feelings all the time, you need to let it out."

"But-"

"No buts, you needed comfort last night Vincent, and even if you reject that fact, deep inside you feel better that you have released all that emotion that you have kept hidden for years."

Vincent stared at her for a moment letting her words sink in. Maybe she's right, maybe I- no this is my burden to bare no-one else's. But I did feel better after my breakdown last night. I don't know anymore, who is right me or her? Vincent thought confused.

Yuffie watched Vincent for awhile until she saw him close his eyes and lower his head into his hands. She reached over and pulled him into a hug. His muscles tensed upon the contact and he tried to pull away. "Don't fight this Vince; you need all the comfort you can get." His muscles relaxed and he wrapped his arms around her. "I promise you one thing Vince" He looked up at her. "If you ever need comfort again, you can always come to me" She smiled. Vincent's eyes sparkled slightly and he put his head on her shoulder. Maybe she's right after all He thought.

A knock on the door interrupted them. "Vincent, Yuffie's not in her room is she with you?" The voice that they recognised as Cloud's asked.

"Yeah she's in here." Vincent replied.

"What she doing in there!" Cid shouted outside. "You have some serious explaining when you come out of there!"

Vincent and Yuffie just looked at each other. Yuffie grinned while Vincent smirked, they will never hear the end of this story as far as AVALANCHE was concerned.
