Having a bit of a melancholy night, while being plagued by insomnia again, and decided to write what could have happened if Maron had realized far to late that she had made a mistake by not staying with Krillin. (And, in case it is not abundantly clear - I do not own Dragon Ball Z and make no profit from this story.)

It had seemed like a lifetime ago, that day on the beach. He had wanted her, she wanted him. But, the timing . . . the timing was wrong. He was a warrior and she was a bright-eyed girl. She had realized she loved him, but it was to late and he had set her free. Free? She'd never felt confined. Now, years later she still thought of him and decided to find him again. Tell the sweet warrior her heart was still his no matter how many suitors were at her fingertips because she wanted to be in his arms. Her heart told her to find him again so she jumped into a boat to find the tiny island where he and his master lived with the adorable old turtle. As the boat cut through the water she imagined their reunion, he would run to her with blush on his cheeks and she would kiss the top of his shiny head to begin their happily ever after. This was her strongest desire. Forever, them two. The night was late when she finally found her destination, her heart pounding fiercely when she decided to ditch the boat, jump into the water and swim the short distance to the house. One light burned in the window, she ran to look inside hoping to catch a glimpse of him before giving him the best surprise she could think of – herself. Instead, she saw he was not alone. A small child rested in his lap, she had the same round cheeks of the one holding her. Their smiles were identical as he read the tiny girl a bedtime story. The scene continued to play out as the child nodded off in his arms and was lifted away by a tall, blonde woman who kissed him atop his head that was now full of hair. She guessed it really had been a lifetime ago that she saw him because his life had continued to move on. For the second time, on a sandy beach, he had broken her heart. She turned and walked into the waves realizing there was nothing more to do.
