"She's gone."
No, it can't be true.
"She's gone, Will."
Time slows down. Slows down so much that I can see the dust motes drifting in the lazy breeze.
"Will!"
"What?!" the yell is torn from me, like it's coming from the roots of my soul. Maybe it is. Maybe it is, because my soul is being torn in two. No, more than two pieces, a billion. My whole world is shattering before my eyes.
I can't take it anymore, and I walk swiftly from the room. From the room she had lived in for the past year.
And now she's gone.
Maybe...maybe our stories once met. Our stories seemed to become one. But now they've torn apart viciously. For a moment I consider suicide. At least then I would either meet her in a 'better place' or it would all end. But I can't bring this pain onto my friends. Can't make them go through what I am now.
She's gone.
Halt's words echo in my ears. Pounding on the doors of my heart. Ripping my soul apart, thread by tiny thread.
"You'd better sleep with one eye open, Raul, because I'm coming for you. And I swear to God in His Heaven, I will kill you. And you will pay for taking her.
"For taking Alyss."
