The Wicked Bakery
Chapter 1 Story of a Girl
Author's Note: For those of you who follow me and my stories on here and know how much I can't stand Zelena, you are not imaging things. This is a Zelena story. Well, it's actually more of a Zades story, an AU story. In this story, Cora didn't give up Zelena. She was raised with Regina and are very close. But Cora is still a control freak. I know Cora "redeem" herself in episode 3x19 'Sisters', but evil Cora is important to my story. Also, Regina and Robin are married and Henry and Roland are their biological children.
Ever since episode 3x16 'Our Decay', I fell in love with Hades and Zelena. At first I thought Hades was just using her but the way he looks at her. My god! It's the same way Charming looks at Snow, or Hook looks at Emma, or Rumple looks at Belle, or Robin looks at Regina. Well, you get the idea lol. The scene with the bicycle really sealed the deal for me. It reminded me in episode 1x12 'Skin Depp', when Belle fell off the ladder and Rumple caught her and they were stare at each other in wonder.
After last week I knew things wouldn't end well for Zelena. I mean, Hades lied to her! I know the old Zelena would have jumped at the chance to rule Storybrooke with Hades but she's actually grown. She did the right thing and saved Regina. And she even named her daughter after Robin. I know Zades is pretty much over but if they can't have their happy ending on the show I'm making sure they get one in fanfiction. What can I say I'm a romantic?
Also we're celebrating two events today: Once Day and Mother's Day! Have any of you guys notice that Once usually have their season finale on Mother's Day? It makes me sad that the two hour season finale is next week.
Happy reading everyone!
It was a busy day at the Wicked Bakery in New York City. Zelena Mills, the owner of the bakery, was coming out of the kitchen with a fresh tray of Dorothy Danishes,
The Wizard of Oz was Zelena's favorite story when she was little girl and when she decided to open her own bakery she wanted to go with a Wizard of Oz theme. The walls were decorated with illustrations from the book and scenes from the movie and the floor painted to look like the yellow brick road. The tables were painted emerald green with chairs had ruby slippers chair slippers on them. Hanging from the ceiling were figures of the Wicked Witch and Flying Monkeys. In front of the cashier there was a tip jar in the shape of Toto.
Yup, Zelena went all went all out on this place. But the thing she was proud of the most was her baked goods. She gave them all fun names. Aside from the Dorothy Danishes, there was Scarecrow Brain Muffins, Tin Man's Red Velvet Heart Cake, Cowardly Lemon Bars, Flying Monkey Banana Bread, etc. But Zelena's favorite creation was the Wicked Witch Chocolate Pie.
She remembered the first time she served it to a customer.
Almost five years ago
It was the grand opening of The Wicked Bakery. Zelena was nervous. She wanted everything to be perfect. She made employees double check everything: tables, pastries, everything. One of her employees, Walsh, had to sit her down before she drove herself crazy. She manage to take a deep breath and opened the doors. There wasn't that many people but it wasn't little either. She thought it was good start.
Her mother, Cora, was against the idea of opening her bakery, but that didn't surprise her. All her life Cora did nothing but criticize her and her dreams. She thought being a mere baker was meaningless work, but Zelena didn't care. She loved baking. There was something about watching a customer's face lite up when they take a bite of one of her creations that was quite satisfying.
"Excuse me, miss?"
Zelena was so caught up in her thoughts that she didn't hear a customer walk up to the counter. She turned to her next customers. There were two, a tall handsome blonde with muscles. The towering giant just screamed Greek God. The man standing next to him wasn't so nearly as tall, he was about her height and wore a nice suit. He was no Greek God but was devilishly handsome in his own way. From the same blonde hair and blue eyes she would have to guess they were brothers.
"Can I help you gentlemen," she asked.
"Yes, I would like a Great and Powerful Oz to go, please. Grande size," Greek God said.
"I'll have the same and a slice of Wicked Witch Chocolate Pie," Devilishly Handsome said.
"Coming right up," she said.
While she had Lonnie, an Asian employee, make the coffee Zelena walked over to the display case where the rest of the pastries were kept. She open the case to reach for the pie but almost had a heart attack when she saw someone looking back at her.
"I would like the biggest slice," Devilishly Handsome said.
"Oh god!" Zelena grabbed her chest.
"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to scare you," he apologize.
"It's okay," she assured him.
Zelena pulled out the pie and cut a big piece and put it in a small box. She went back up to the counter to ring up the duo's order.
"That will be eight dollars," Zelena told them.
Greek God pulled out his wallet and pulled out some bills. As he handed her the money, she felt him rubbing his thumb against her knuckles.
"It's been a pleasure," he smirked.
Zelena quickly pulled away from him in disgust.
"I'll be in the car," Greek God told his companion.
She let out a sigh of relief as soon as he was gone. The gall of that man! Did he think that she would get all weak in the knees for that little stunt?
"Miss?"
Oh yeah! She forgot about the other man. At first she was confused why he was still here, but than she noticed that he needed a carrier for the two coffees.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Let me get you something to carry your coffees," Zelena said, grabbing a drink carrier.
"Listen, I want to apologize for my brother. He's a bit of a flirt and he doesn't know what boundaries are," he explained.
So I was right. They are brothers, she thought.
"That's all right. No harm done," she assured him.
She put the coffees in the carrier and the pie in a bag. As she handed him his things their fingers touched and she felt like she was struck by lightning. He must have felt it too because he looked just as surprise.
Well, Zelena found his brother's touch repulsive, this man's touch was...pleasant.
"Um, thank you miss," he said.
"Zelena! My name is Zelena," she blurted out.
Why did she say that?
"I'm Hector," he said.
"Nice to meet you," she smiled.
"You too. Well, I better go.
"Of course. Enjoy the pie."
"I think I will."
Zelena watched as Hector leave the bakery. She silently hopped she would see him again.
"Mommy! Mommy!"
Zelena was pulled out of her memories when she sees a pretty little four-year-old girl comes running up to her. She was followed by her younger sister, Regina.
"Kyra!" Zelena declared.
She came from behind the counter and pulled her daughter into her arms.
"I missed you, mommy!" she said.
"I missed you too, my little munchkin. Did you and Aunt Regina had fun at the park today," Zelena asked.
"Yeah! I fed the ducks," Kyra replied.
"You did," Zelena asked curious.
"Yeah, and then I chased the ducks. But then they got mad and started chasing me, but I got away," she said proudly.
Zelena couldn't help laughing at her daughter's antics.
"I told her it was a bad idea, but she didn't listen. Let that be a lesson to you, missy," Regina said.
"I'm sorry, Aunt Regina," Kyra pouted.
"It's all right, honey. Just don't do it again," Regina smiled.
Kyra nodded.
"Thank you so much for watching Kyra today for me sis. It's been crazy today," she said.
"I'm happy to help. Well, I better head on home. Robin and the boys are waiting for me," Regina said.
"Of course! Give them our love," Zelena said.
"Bye Aunt Regina!" Kyra said.
"Bye honey," Regina said kissing her niece.
Zelena was lucky that she had Regina as a sister. Cora was a nightmare but having Regina made it bearable. She was always there for her, especially after...
"Mommy, can I have cupcake," Kyra asked her.
She looked down at little girl with her pretty blue eyes and strawberry blonde, a mixture of both her parents hair color.
"Not now, sweetheart. After dinner," said.
Kyra wanted to argue but knew better.
Zelena didn't have much, but having Kyra in her life was more than enough.
Author's Note: So what do you think? Isn't Kyra the cutest little thing? Before they finally named Baby Hood I got tried of them waiting to name her so I decided to pick myself.
Last week it was all about updating my old stories. This week I'm posting up new ones. I hope you guys like them.
