At The End Of It All

Fandom: Young Justice

Pairing(s): SeaArrow

Summary: "It killed them. Every touch, every kiss- every night they spent entangled in each other's arms. After, they'd just lie there, each silently screaming for the other to reprimand them, to yell, to shove, to curse and push away; but neither of them did. Neither of them would."

It made sense. He was lonely, and she was lonely. The both of them were stowed away, deep beneath the world, where even the people who lived and worked around them- were strangers. It was clear at first. Two agents; just doing their job- no feelings, no emotions, no commitment; when the sub lurched, though, it was all they had left.

Two souls- broken, begging to be released, to be touched; to have the pain of being ravaged just to know they were alive. It was a final option- an unspoken compromise. He has missed her, she has missed him; but at the end of the day, she still knows of his existence, whiles he, on the other hand has to come to terms with the remorseful fact that she is lost forever.

It killed them. Every touch, every kiss- every night they spent entangled in each other's arms. After, they'd just lie there, each silently screaming for the other to reprimand them, to yell, to shove, to curse and push away; but neither of them did. Neither of them would.

Every time she zipped up her jeans, he'd stare at her, watching her movements with hollow eyes, as if to say "I'm sorry". But it wouldn't be enough, it was never enough.

For every night with each piece of clothing stripped, a chip of sanity was pried off as well, until they were both naked and shaking- their breaths ragged with burdens they could no longer voice.

Even when they were finally pardoned, the need lingered. Sneaking away, she'd visit him again and again. Upon opening the door he'd stand there, expectant for a goodbye- but it was futile. They both knew it would never come. They were in too deep.

Even when confronted about it, hollow expressions seemed to tell the entire story of how this was all either of them had managed to hold onto; that even though they tried to break apart, to find another- this was all they had left.

And at the end of it all, she was always back in his arms.
