A scream broke my dreams and the night silence. With my head rested against a pillow, I closed my eyes as soon as they opened. Slowly, slowly falling back into slumber. Then, my body jumps, and my eyes open wide, because of a sudden hand on my shoulder. I look to my right to see my little brother, Cade, with a tear streaked face. He's talking too fast for me to undertand.
"Hey, Cade. Calm down." I groan, before lifting myself up. I yawn and rub my eyes. "What? Is the snake here again?"
"Gaia..." Cade can barely speak, pointing at the closet door.
I was asleep in my little brothers bed. My parents are at a company party, and Cade refused to sleep alone. He's afraid of this purple snake. It hides in his closet. Ordinarily, you'd asume it to be a child's fear or imagination, but I had seen and experienced the creature first-hand. I was terrified at first, but it appeared to understand english, and was just like a human inside of a snake. Plus, when you learn how to attack it with an everyday household item, when it tries to hurt you, you'd be surprised how quickly that it becomes a normal, routine and slightly annoying occurance.
Looking over to the closet door handle, I narrow my eyes. Standing up, I walk slowly and quietly toward the door. I hear a few whispers, crashing and cusses, before the door handle begins to turn. I outstretch and grab the thing closest to me. Just as the door swings open, I start to attack and hit whatever exits. Eventually, the creature sprawls out on the floor.
"What the hell?" The purple snake glances up at me, rubbing his head and staring at the object in my hand, that's still raised. Turned out to be a special-edition Barbie doll.
"You nasty little snake! You think you can bully little kids, huh?" I shout.
"Move, ugly."
HIT
"What did you say!?" I shout.
I begin to throw random objects at him until he backs up into the closet, and I slam the door.
RANDALL P.O.V:
I'm pushed through the door and land on the floor of Monsters Incorporated. Jeff Fungus, my assistant, peers down at me timidly. The alarm goes off. Ugh, that moron threw all that crap at me. The CDA barges in through the doors and windows, heading right toward me. Slowly, they pick a hat off of my tail. They decontaminate me and go on their merry-way.
"Y-you okay, boss?"
"Do I LOOK OKAY?" I shout, standing up. A few colleages' stare at me. I turn round and storm past Sulley, who's currently filling up around ten containers of screams.
Jeff runs up to me.
"Boss, we could get them to destroy such a danger-"
"You really think that I, I, am going to be chased off by some stupid girl?" I seethe, walking down a hallway.
"But, boss, if you could just get a new door. If you don't, you'll never beat Sulley..." Jeff says.
"Really? Soon this entire company will be mine, never mind Sulley." I pull out a glowing object, wrapped in a cloth, and peer at it. I smirk. "You know, Fungi, I saw something very interesting in that kid's room. In fact, I saw it a long time ago."
"What is it?" Jeff runs up to me again, obviously struggling to keep up. He peers up at me.
"The second piece is in the human world, interestingly some kid's room."
"B-boss...?" I completely ignore Fungus.
Gearing up in a protective suit, after hours, I sneak into the scare room. Powering up that kid's door, I enter.
GAIA P.O.V:
I awake to rummaging inside Cade's room. I had fallen asleep. Rubbing my eyes and gazing up, I see the snake, once again. He's attempting to pick something up with a stick.
"Hey, that's not yours, snake." I say, getting up and snatching the thing that he picked up with the stick. The snake looks at me, his mouth opening and closing for a moment. He then stares at my hand.
"How...how are you touching that?" He says.
"Um, what? It doesn't belong to you." I say, rotating the thing in my hand. I tip my head to the side. "This is the first time you've actually talked to me, without an insult or attack. Weird."
I'm suddenly knocked backward and I fall onto the floor, with the snake on top of me. I kick at him.
He pins down my legs. "I said, how are you touching that?"
I stare at him. My face must have truly been confused, because he sighs and releases me. Standing up, he speaks again, "Can you humans be any more dimwitted? You have such a thing in your hands, and you wave it around like it's a piece of fricking plastic?"
"Dude, I know you're a monster and all, but you're acting pretty strange." I tighten my grip on the object, which looks like an animal figurine, and stand up. I eventually sit on Cade's bed. "I don't really know you, but I liked things the way they were before. It was fun."
"What? You call me weird? You, a human, attack a monster? You aren't even fazed?"
"I mean, I was so bored. Such a mysterious snake like you, it almost reminds me of a video game, or a movie."
"Hey, I have a name, ugly."
"So do I, snake."
The snake narrows his eyes. "I'M NOT A SNAKE. And, okay, human. I'm Randall Boggs. Yourself?"
"Gaia."
I glare at him, still holding the figurine.
"I promise to stop terroizing your brother, so long as you help me."
"With what?"
"You can hold the Desesperer without side effects. Can you help me find the other pieces?"
"The Desesperer?" I say, before continuing. "Hey, I can just keep beating your ass, ya know." I argue. "But, for the sake of Cade, it's a deal."
