Why did it have to be this way.

by Rain of Mystery

This was the end for the Sinclair family, they were all together in the living room with Stan the Bunch Beetle.

The baby spoke. Baby spoke. " But, what's gonna happen to us?"

"Well, I don't exactly know." Earl replied

Robbie assured his little brother." But whatever it is, nobody's gonna leave you."
Charlene as well chimed in" That's right, little guy. We'll all stay together."

Robbie agreed, "Yeah."

Earl told him " Yeah. and hey, I'm sure it'll all work out OK. After all, dinosaurs have been on this Earth for 150 million years. And, it's not like we're going to just...disappear."

Meanwhile Roy Hess was in his home alone, awaiting for the envidible, his last days. He sighed to himself, thinking of so many things, the memories and fun times he had with friends and Pally Boy Earl, how much was going to miss his friend and his family. Then to his surprise.

"Roy." she called him.

"Monica!" he said turning to where she was entering through the window with her longneck.

" Roy...I-I just wanted...to say..." she said with her eyes watered. She was scared, Roy was use to seeing her as a strong, and confident, now she seeing her shivering, scared and frightened of the unknown and what was to come. It was the end for their kind.

" I don't want to be alone." she said softly.

" Me neither. I 'am so glad you are here." he told her, meaning every word in deep gratitude.

" It looks like this is it." she said with a sad smile.

He looked at her with an endearing smile, seeing her beautiful blue eyes, he was remembering the same he saw her, fell in love with her.

She looked at him with her head tilted to the side. " Oh Roy, why did it had to be this way." she said with tears in falling from her eyes, her voice was breaking hinting pain in her voice.

Before he knew it, she collapsed causing everything to shake, he failed to noticed that he neck and body was covered in chemical burns from the spraying that happened days ago, she was dying.

Roy approached closer to her, and sat down on the floor and rested his head next to hers, hearing her labored breathing from the pain of her burns. Tears were burning his eyes, he knew it wouldn't be long now with Monica.

They both looked at each other what seemed like an eternity in a moment, she closed her eyes and rested her head in his lap. Roy too closed his eyes, and soon he felt her stop breathing, and his eyes remained closed and he never woke up.

During his last thoughts, all he could think about was his beloved Monica and those days of spending with Earl and his family, but what brought one last smile to his face was Monica. The snow gently covered her body leaving her neck and face clear as she passed away in her sleep next to Roy, in a matter of days the snow had covered his home and both of them, creating a tomb for the two of them. Both who didn't want to die alone in a changing world. The age of the dinosaurs had come to an end.

The end.
