The waterbender took a deep breath as she made her way through the kitchen, trying not to wince as she held her arm close to her body, having quickly wrapped a bandage around the gash on her arm. It had been a long day, and the waterbender was increasingly irritated with the world refusing to let things go her way. "Stupid knife" Katara muttered to herself as she tried to save dinner, tears in her eyes as she forced her way through the pain throbbing in her arm, knowing that her husband would be home any minute now.

She had missed him. More than anyone knew. And he was finally going to be home, and she was overjoyed to get to spend dinner and the whole evening with her beloved.

Aang couldn't help but frown as he let himself into his house, his eyes going slightly wide as he saw the sight of his wife before him, concern and worry filling the airbender as he saw the blood seeping through the white bandage she wore on her arm.

"Katara?" he asked quietly, dropping the bag he had holding various papers from the council, moving to wrap his arms around his wife, kissing her cheek as he took the knife out of her hands. "What happened sweetie?" he enquired, motioning to her arm as he kissed her again, trying to calm her.

Katara turned around, her eyes slightly wide as they filled with tears. letting Aang envelope her into a tight hug, her lips finding his as she kissed him gently. "I slipped with the knife" she sighed her admittance "I was just trying to get everything ready and perfect for tonight" she started to explain, ignoring Aang's shushes as he pulled her over to the dining table, forcing the waterbender to take a seat as he sat before her, gently pulling the bandage from her arm and wincing at the sight before him.

"It's not really that bad" Katara muttered at his reaction, a small smile on the avatar's lips at her insistence. "Sure it isn't" he teased, leaning over to kiss her gently.

"Get me some water and I'll heal it" she sighed to her husband, and he couldn't help but smile as he got up, making his way back into the kitchen, getting a small bowl of water before he sat down in front of his wife once more, pulling the water out and around his own hands before she had the chance to start.

"Here" he smiled "You keep saying you're going to teach me healing, here's the perfect opportunity" he insisted, but Katara couldn't stop herself from frowning at the idea.

"I don't think that's the best idea, Aang" she admitted "Come on, just let me do it, it will take me two seconds" she insisted, though the airbender smile and shook his head.

"No" he insisted "It's my turn. I'm going to look after you for once. Now, how do I do this?" he asked.

Katara couldn't help but smile slightly, nodding her agreement before she started to guide her husband's hands, instructing him on how best to hold the water, how to feel his way through it to access it's healing properties, sitting there with him patiently as she waited for him to be ready, refusing to let him put the water near her until he had perfected the technique. "Ok, that's it" she smiled, directing Aang to press the water to her wound, helping him flow the chi in her body to heal the wound.

It was all worth it when she saw the giant grin on the young Avatar's face.

"I did it!" Aang exclaimed, making Katara laugh "That you did" she agreed, leaning over and kissing him gently.

"Well now Katara," Aang grinned, pulling Katara into his arms tightly "You're going to have to watch out, it won't be long until I master healing as well" he insisted, and Katara couldn't help but smile.

"I love you" she whispered quietly.

"I love you too" Aang grinned his reply, pulling his wife into a gentle kiss.
