Author's Note: Birthday poem for Stephen D. Kenny . . . Yes, he's been assigned a birthday by me. :)

There wasn't anything he couldn't do
Or so everyone believed
There wasn't anything he didn't want to do
Or so he told himself

Gazing at the stars, always wishing and wondering
What could have been
Would they have remained safe?
Would more have died?

Shaking hands, smiling all the time
Everything is good, everything is fine
Still, there's something not quite right
Something's missing in life

Green eyes of an unsung, unknown hero tell the tale
Sad eyes missing true love, forever longing
Never happy

His accomplishments were his own
There was only one thing he'd change
Day shining bright
Sun's warm light

A bride so beautiful, flowing gown of white
Eyes aglow with happiness
Heart swelling, he knows, he knows
Words are said, promises made

Another day of joy, a few years down the road
House is filled with love, laughter, and tears

All that can be accomplished
Has been accomplished
