Hey, I thought of this a while ago and finally I typed it out. This is Nico's POV of when Percy bathed in the river Styx. I was always curious about it because the books are only from Percys POV.
Disclaimer: Percy Jackson and Characters belong to Rick Riordan… not me.
I saw Percy take a deep breath and slowly creep towards the water's edge. My heart was beating like crazy in my chest. What a stupid idea, I chastised myself, Percy could die a painful and horrible death and I was just letting him do it. I stepped forward prepared to grab his arm and pull him back to safety and demanded we found another way but I was too late. As if in slow motion Percy stepped into the river and immediately his legs gave way from under him and he face planted the water, disappearing under the currents before I could even take a step.
My heart stopped as I watched this and my legs moved as if on their own accord until I was at the water's edge shouting out for Percy. I was frantic as I searched but I couldn't see a thing, only the murky depths of the water.
Tears pricked at the corner of my eyes as I knelt down, careful not to touch the water. Percy was one of my only real friends and I had betrayed him just to get information on my family – I should've known Hades would wriggle out of the deal.
Thirty seconds had passed and there was still no sign of Percy, not even a ripple from the water. Just like that all my hopes were crushed. I tried reaching out to feel for Percys' soul but I couldn't feel anything, it was like he had never existed.
I stood up and fisted my black hair in my hands as I imagined what was happening below the water's edge. Did his whole body disintegrate? Was he screaming for help? Did he hate me for making him do this? The thoughts kept racing through my head and I couldn't stop them.
I tottered back a few steps as the guilt overcame me, the guilt of Percys' death. It was my entire fault. Only one hero had completed the transition in thousands of millenniums and I had just watched as my friend walked to his death. He had so much ahead of him if he outlasted the prophecy but all that was taken away because of me and my selfish ways.
I felt like collapsing to the ground but just then Percy leapt from the river and landed on the bank, his skin red raw and his clothes steaming. I was shocked because I was so sure he had dies I jumped back.
Percy was alive, I didn't kill him, and most importantly he looked fine. A small smile etched its way on my lips and he shakily stood up. We can win, I thought. With Percy on our side – invincible none the less – we can save the world.
Percy was okay… I just hoped he would stay that way!
Its kinds rubbish… sorry! Let me know what you think!
