少女たちの気持ち
[ "The feelings of girls are harder to decipher, you know?" ]
It has been weeks since you joined Shinsei Inazuma Japan as their third manager. Your soccer knowledge, coupled with your friendly nature granted you the ability to befriend everyone quite quickly; especially with the other managers.
The blue haired, kind and sometimes selfless Sorano Aoi, and the quiet, ever-so-mysterious Mizukawa Minori.
However, lately, you noticed that Aoi and Minori seemed like they're distanced from each other, even though they're pretty much okay around you. It's been bugging your mind, but you weren't sure what you should do.
One day, when you were strolling aimlessly around the base camp, you heard Captain Tenma calling out to you.
"(F/N)!" He shouted, whilst trying to catch up with you. He was quite a distance away, after all.
"Captain! Is there anything I can help you with?" You replied, as you gave him a cheerful smile.
Tenma answered with a grin, but then his face turned serious. Very much so, even you are surprised. "Uh, (F/N), can I ask you something?"
You were sure you looked surprised to see your Captain so serious like this, but then you shrugged it off and gave him a warm, light hearted smile, "Calm down, Captain," you said, "And go ahead, ask me anything!"
Tenma seemed like he had loosened up considerably, and then he sighed, "Sorry, I'm just worried, that's all."
"Is there anything wrong?" You quickly asked, worry lacing your voice. "If it's urgent, then—"
"No, no, no!" Tenma hastily interrupted, waving his hands to dismiss your suspicions, "It's just that it has something to do with Aoi, and I'm really worried."
"O-oh! Yeah... Captain is Aoi-chan's childhood friend... right?"
"Nn. Did you notice that... Aoi's been behaving behaving strangely lately?"
...Come to think of it... Aoi is... "Yes," you replied, nodding your head, "She seems to have had a fight with Minori-chan."
"Ah, so that's why. She seems so far away from Mizukawa-san." Tenma said, as he nodded.
"I don't know why, though," You said, your eyes downcast, "I'll try talking to them tomorrow."
"Yeah, please and thank you," Tenma said, "But don't let yourself get sad over this, alright? I'm sure Aoi would be sad, too."
"Mm!"
The two of you exchanged smiles before parting.
It was late in the evening when the two met each other at the meeting room. Aoi was trying to analyze the opponents' data when suddenly Minori opened the door, walking in.
"Minori-san," Aoi greeted.
"Sorano-san," Minori nodded at her, not giving her much glance.
"I wont let her go." Aoi suddenly said, as she stopped clicking her tablet's screen, "...Not even for you."
"..." Minori gave her a sideway glance, as she replied with much confidence, "I'm pretty sure I wont lose to you, Sorano-san."
"I wont be so sure if I am you," Aoi replied, as she gave Minori a cheeky grin, "I wont give up, no matter what."
"...The same to you."
The next day, you were happily humming whilst skipping towards the dining room. You met Minaho and Manabe on the way, so the three of you decided to walk together. Minaho and Manabe were talking with each other (very intently, if you might add), so you just entertained yourself by humming your favorite songs—although you were pretty sure you messed up most of the notes.
"...Say, (F/N)-san..." Suddenly, you heard Minaho's voice coming from your right. Reflexively, you smiled at him, as you tilted your head to the side, as if asking what's wrong.
"Mizukawa-san and Sorano-san are pretty attached to you, aren't they?" Minaho said, "In fact, I think they're fighting pretty much because of you, (F/N)-san."
"Huh?!" You exclaimed in surprise, "Are you sure? I didn't realize...!"
"Yes, I'm pretty sure," Minaho said, "They stole glances at you and glared at each other daily. If that's not a clear indication, I don't know what is." At that, he laughed good-naturedly.
"If Minaho-kun said so, then I'm 90% sure that it is true." Manabe added.
You looked at the both of them, as they stared back expectantly. Slowly, you nodded, as you gave them your brightest smile. "Thank you, Minaho, for informing me. And Manabe too, for helping me making up my mind," you said, "I'll go talk to them now!"
"Good luck, (F/N)-san." Minaho said, as Manabe nodded.
You nodded at them, and then you dashed towards the dining room.
The door opened with a loud bang—actually, no... as much as you want it to be, the door is an automatic sliding one. Damn.
"Minori-chan, Aoi-chan, can you guys come with me for a second?" You asked hastily, still out of breath due to your mad dash.
"(F/N)-chan?" Aoi asked, worry lacing her voice, "Why are you so out of breath?"
"(F/N)-san," Minori said, almost at the same time as Aoi's last sentence, "Is there anything wrong?" She was still quite emotionless, but did you hear her voice shaking?
"Can I talk to you two for a second?" You said. Realizing the stares you had been getting, you quickly added, "O-outside, of course."
"Okay." Aoi replied, whilst Minori nodded as she whispered a faint "Sure".
The three of you walked out of the room, each with thinking about different things. You were kind of nervous... what if Minaho's wrong? They're actually not fighting because of you or anything... you'd be so embarrassed. Let's try the roundabout way, then...
"So? What's wrong, (F/N)-chan?" Aoi asked.
"E-eh, umm..."
Minori tapped her foot impatiently. J-jeez, she made you more nervous than you already are...!
"I noticed that the two of you seemed like you were fighting, a-and Captain told me to talk to you two... so, that's what I'm trying to do; resolve the problem."
Aoi looked at Minori, and Minori did the same to Aoi. The two then started to chuckle, "That's okay, (F/N)—haha—we're not really fighting or anything."
"I think we did," Minori said, as she tried to control her composure, "But... if that made you worry, then, I guess we'll try to get along."
Aoi glanced at Minori, surprise evident in her eyes. But then she nodded, as she gave you a smile, "We love (F/N)-chan very much, so we wouldn't want her to worry about us, yeah?"
"..." Minori blushed a little, but then she nodded, "Yes."
"Ah...! That's great..." You sighed in relieve, "I'm glad that everything is resolv—"
Before you could finish your sentence, you felt soft lips pressed to both of your cheeks; Aoi on the left, and Minori on the right.
"But this is payback for making us fight in the first place." Minori said.
Aoi nodded, as she smiled, "I still wont give up (F/N)-chan." She said to Minori.
Minori gave a slightly arrogant smile, as said, "The same to you, too."
"E-ee? Guys... what are you talking about?"
With a smile etched on Aoi's lips, she put her index finger in front of her lips, "That's a secret."
"...Time will reveal everything." Minori added, as she nodded.
"...Mou... you guys...!"
"It's time to go back, (F/N)-chan~ Come on!" Aoi reached out to your hand, as she squeezed it tight. Minori did the same to your other hand.
"Mm! Let's go back and eat together with the others!" You said as you smiled.
Oh well, in time, everything will reveal itself, right?
At least, that's what Minori said, anyway.
