The Lucky One- My version from Beth's point of view!
Background
It has been a tough year, Elizabeth Green thinks to herself while writing yet another help wanted ad for the local newspaper. Between Drake's death still fresh in her mind, Nana's stroke and Keith's ongoing verbal abuse to both her and her son, Beth Green needs some help, that's it just help. Sometimes I wonder what would have happened if I hadn't gotten pregnant with Ben, but then again I know Ben is the best thing I have ever done in this world.
Chapter One- The Meeting
I begin today much the same as any other day, cleaning out the cages and feeding the dogs dreaming of my days as a teacher. I have just finished up and getting ready to make my way to the little wooden shed we use as our office for the dog training and boarding business Nana runs, when I notice a man and a dog walking towards me. This man is beautiful, he has a sadder look in his eyes which makes me think he has seen horrible things, this gives me the creeps but other than that he looks very grown up and polished. As he catches sight of me, recognition flashes across his face until he settles back into his mask of no emotion. With him is a beautiful German Shepard much like the one I used to own. He doesn't speak so instead I take initiative since Mr. Creepy won't tell me why he is here, I'll have to ask.
His name is Logan. Then the phone rings and I have to deal with another customer, so I ask Logan to wait and follow me. Where are we going to put Zeus if he is to be boarded here, well at least Nana won't need to train him so he may not be a problem. When I get back to Logan after confirming another pet owner for drop off this afternoon I realize he is interested in the job Hallelujah! I'm so happy Nana will have someone to work with. Trying to be nosey I asked him where he is from, He says he is from Colorado and walked here. He also says he trained bomb dogs, which is how Zeus is trained so well, he is a marine. I feel sick. How do I get him to leave without being to rude. I tell him he doesn't need to fill out the form anymore, but he won't relinquish. I will go get Nana, she will see he is crazy.
Walking into the yard, I see Nana struggling with a stubborn dog who does not want to be trained. I wish she would slow down after her stroke but she is in denial. I talk her into going to talk to Logan, I wait outside. Hmm they have been talking for a long time⦠finally Logan leaves. Ha I knew Nana could do it, probably thinks he is a wingnut. I ask her how she made him leave, wait what! You gave him the job. She replies that I know nothing about him and he doesn't seem crazy to her, great. I do not want him here. She figured he would only be working 730-5 so she would barely see him, maybe she could start supply teaching again. Yes that would be nice, she needn't worry about Logan Thibault.
