Welcome to "The Reckoning." As most of you definitely know, I own none of this and I am basing the characters off of the Pokemon Adventures Manga as well as the games. If you have any comments or thoughts feel free to PM me.

Prologue

Dear Mom,

You don't really consider the risk of allowing super-powered beings to roam around unchecked until something terrible happens. Before that something terrible, the reality is something more pleasant and peaceful. Legends are legends and myths are myths. Real life is something entirely different. Unfortunately, those legends and myths are very real and they are the ones who dictate reality.

That morning three months ago, is something that nobody wants to remember. The religious folk called it 'The Reckoning.' I can see why they would call it that. The gods of our world descended on us with a power and violence like something from old scriptures that are there to remind you to say your prayers. Apparently, we had not been making our prayers because the gods definitely did not favor us.

Entire cities were destroyed. Those that weren't are under a strict martial law and are constantly on alert. The attacks haven't ended and the war is far from over, but everyday the light at the end of humanity's tunnel becomes smaller and smaller. I've been living in Petalburg City since it happened. Petalburg went relatively unscathed. Occasionally, some attacks occur, but there are many powerful trainers in the area who have been successful in fending them off.

But we cannot expect this to keep up. Professor Birch called on four of us: Ruby, Sapphire, Wally, and myself to go out in the world and try to find some way to end this war. Going off of a rumor I heard about some mad scientists conducting experiments that caused Pokemon to enter an outrage, Wally and I departed to the Orre Region. Ruby and Sapphire decided to search for the mythical Sinjoh Ruins in hopes of finding something there.

Now, Wally and I are approaching Citadark Isle to start our journey. Professor Birch gave us some advice before we left. "Trust our Pokemon and we will get through this."

Norman told us the exact opposite: "Trust in your strength and you will get through this."

I don't know who to believe. We, meaning my team and I, are strong. Wally is strong. But, I have seen the attacks. They are vicious. They come out of nowhere and leave nothing but destruction in their path.

I know you said when I left for Hoenn that I needed to experience the world so I could become stronger. I have gotten stronger but the world is overwhelming. I don't know if I can do it. I miss the safety of Almia. I heard Almia has been almost untouched by 'The Reckoning.' I don't know what you've seen or been through but I hope you're safe.

You might not hear from me for some time. I'm sorry about that. I will send another letter as soon as I can. Wish me luck!

Love,

Grey
