Okay! Round three in Compy's contest is Ardentshipping, which is Tristan/Serenity. I warn you now, there's character death, but it's not gory or anything.

The graveyard was sunny and cheerful looking on a bright spring day in Domino. Little flags, flowers, and miscellaneous items fluttered in a gentle breeze. Near a grave that was new enough to have young grass barely grown on it, a girl stood, her auburn hair blowing gently. A hand came up to brush her hair from her face as she stooped to place a bouquet of flowers below the headstone, to rest among several other bouquets that were already there.
She stood back up, gazing at the gravestone. It was so hard to believe that her friend was gone. Her brother had called her in America and had told her the grim news.
I'm sorry…
Apparently Tristan, being the righteous person that he tended to be, had jumped into a fight to help the obviously weaker teenagers. The bullies apparently didn't like being interrupted in their beating up weaklings, and as Tristan had rushed them, one had pulled a knife and had stabbed Tristan right in the stomach
Once the bullies had left, one of the teens that Tristan had tried to defend had called an ambulance. The rest of the group, upon hearing that he was in the hospital, had flocked to the hospital, hoping beyond hope that Tristan would pull through.
…that I wasn't there for you…
Serenity could see it in her mind's eye. Joey would be pacing and demanding a status update every few minutes. Anzu would be trying to keep Joey calm while Yugi and Yami would be sitting there, silently conversing through their mind link. And off to the side would be Duke and Ryou, looking out the window at the street, patiently waiting for news on their friend.
After a few hours of waiting, a doctor had come out and told the gang that Tristan had lost the fight for his life, that there was too much damage to his system. Everyone had broken down…even Yami had cried.
I'm sorry…
Serenity kneeled in front of Tristan's grave. She wasn't able to get to Domino for the funeral, and she felt bad about it. It was hard, not being able to see the coffin, to say goodbye when you were looking at a stone with words on it.
…that I never said goodbye…
Overcome with her bottled up grief, Serenity began to cry. Some of her tears fell onto the gravestone as she let everything out. She didn't notice the breeze pick up a little and turn slightly warmer, nor did she notice the figure literally materialize behind her.
Tristan watched Serenity silently, wishing to comfort the girl. Since he was still attached to her emotionally, he had regrets, and therefore couldn't ascend or move on. Coming up next to her, Tristan knelt and reaching out, managed to brush a single tear from Serenity's cheek.
But what I'm sorry for the most…
Serenity jumped and turned tear-filled eyes in Tristan's direction. She didn't see anything, but rather felt him there. "…Tristan?" she whispered. The presence shifted its position and Serenity felt lips press themselves gently against her own. Eyes widening, Serenity could just barely make out the shape/form of Tristan kissing her. As Tristan pulled away, Serenity let her tears fall again. "I'm sorry," she murmured.
The breeze picked back up and caressed Serenity gently. "…I know. I will miss you, but we'll see each other again someday," came Tristan's voice on the wind as it died back down to the gentle breeze that had originally been blowing, leaving Serenity alone in the graveyard.
…is that I never told you how much I love you.
