Six had managed to keep her moving until they got back to Garth's truck. Six knew that if anyone could patch Violet up it would be him; he was after all a genius when it came to biology. Also the boy was well aware of the other motives, which would drive him to do his best to save Violet's life. The way Garth looked at her when she had come for help did not go unnoticed by Six, he only hoped it would be enough.
After watching the sun rise and cross the sky once more Six was allowed back into the main area of the truck. He saw Violet lying on a bed in starched white sheets with Garth standing guard over her. Six walked to her side ignoring the others that were still present.
"Is she going to be okay?" Six asked while taking in her small, fragile form. Her skin was paler than usual with dark almost purple circles under her eyes and her black hair was slightly tangled and wavy.
"We've done all we can, the rest is up to her," Garth answered softly pulling the linen bedding a little higher and stroking her cheek once before moving away. Six watched him grab a jumper and continue outside.
After a few minutes of silently debating whether to leave him alone, he followed the same path outside only he was already clad in a jumper twice his size. He found Garth sitting on the ground lending against the metal of the truck and watching the last few rays of full sunlight over the city skyline.
Six sat down beside him but neither one spoke simply nodded in acknowledgement of the others presence. They were both too busy soaking in the last of the strong light that they didn't hear someone descending the metal steps off the truck.
Garth was the first to notice, " V what are you doing up?" he asked while pulling off his glasses and standing up. "You should be resting." He wrapped an arm around her waist to steady her shaky movements and put the other on her blanket cover shoulder to guide her. He moved her so her back was against the truck. He went to where he had been before, only a foot from her, as he knew she liked her independence.
Six watched unmoved as she slide gently to the ground, mindful of her injures. "Hey," she whispered to Six giving him a gentle smile. He smiled back and moved to give her a hug. She opened her arms and in ding so enveloped him in a comfortable embrace surrounded by the blanket she had wrapped around her shoulders.
Garth watched all this with a gentle eye and was in the process of looking away when he felt a warm hand caress his cheek. He caught Violets eye and heard her whisper a 'thank you' while her hand moved to hold his. She smiled bringing his hand to her lips and softly kissing his knuckles before turning back to watch the sun set.
Garth smiled and wrapped an arm around her shoulders, causing her to lower her head to his shoulder. He kissed the top of her head and rested his head on hers as the three watched the sun set in vibrate shades of orange and purple before fading into a beautiful starry night.
