Music

Smiling, Lily Evans twirled in large, sweeping circles, one pale hand outstretched in front of her elegantly, as if being held. Giggling happily, Lily hummed to herself as she danced to the music in her mind, the light of the moon and reflecting water glimmering and making her shine out so brightly as she hummed and danced her music-less dance.

Behind her, James Potters watched, transfixed, on the sight of the dancing figure he could only describe as a nymph, so beautiful and graceful.

Promising he'd learn to dance, James continued to watch.

One week later, a smirking James could be seen sauntering over to one Lily Evans, resting one long, tan arm above her head and smirking down at the now glaring girl.

"How would you like to go dancing this weekend?"

James smirked, confident that he would finally hear her say 'yes'. Straitening her shoulders, Lily smiled just slightly, making James' heart flutter in his chest.

"Would I like to go dancing this weekend? There isn't anything I would love to do more..."

James did a little victory dance in his head before he was crushed by the red-head's parting words as she left him in the corner of the Gryfindor common room.

"...however, there isn't anything in this world that could make me dance with you, James Charles Potter. So stop asking me!"

Gazing at their friends slumped forms, Sirius and Remus laughed.
