It was a curse placed upon his family so long ago that his grandmother felt that it was a myth. The family 'tradition' was ignored on the day of his birth.
Ryou felt like an outsider within his own family. His great-grandmother, before her death, would mutter and shake her head when he went to bring her something to eat or drink. She would glare at her daughter and granddaughter as they passed.
Deciding that he had to know what had her so upset, Ryou waited until he was home alone with her. Days before his birthday, Ryou finally had a chance to talk to her.
His mother and grandmother were out running errands while he was assigned to watch her. Ryou prepared the kettle of water and took a tray with two cups, the teabags, sugar, cream, and teapot up to her room.
"Nana, I brought you some tea," Ryou called ahead.
Agatha motioned for Ryou to enter, "Get in here and close the door. It's high time someone told you about the curse."
Ryou set the tray on her table and sat on the floor. He waited until she had her tea and sugar in the cup before pouring just enough water over the contents. She looked at him, "I suppose you should blame my great-great-great-grandfather for this. He crossed a gypsy by cheating her son of money by selling him sick sheep. She was the leader of the clan and quite powerful."
Ryou carefully added the cream to her tea and gently stirred it before passing it to her. Agatha sipped some of the tea before continuing.
This is pretty much all I have at the moment. I'm trying to figure out where to go with this story.
