The Greatest Sacrifice
"Give up on your dreams and die for us. Lead the recruits straight into hell. And I'll take down the Beast Titan."
Those were the words he needed to hear. The last push he needed to give up on everything. His dreams and hopes, they would be passed on to the living. And to accomplish that, he needed to give up on everything, taking the lives of the young and innocent recruits with him straight into the dark and endless abyss of death. There was no other way.
He met the eyes of his best and most trusted comrade.
And Erwin smiled.
"Levi, thank you."

The rocks, they were coming, and with them came the inevitable end. The last seconds of his existence stretched out into what seemed like an eternity. The echo's of horse hooves on the hard ground, the cries and screams of the recruits, his own roars; everything blurred together. He would never know what was down there in the basement. The dream he shared with his father—the living would carry the weight and advance. And somewhere, Erwin was relieved. He was tired. Tired of the burden that rested on his shoulders. Tired of feeling those eyes staring down at him, accusingly, and asking why.
Why. How many times hadn't he asked himself that question? He didn't know.
Blood, fear, pain, terror, and tears. It all seemed to go around in circles, the why's piling up along with every life he had sacrificed. Had used to proceed forward and unravel the truth of this world.
But not for long anymore. Soon he would be—
And then, the end came.
This is my first time writing something for the AoT fandom.
I'm re-reading some of the manga, and once again, Erwin's death hit me hard in the feels, and I had to write something.
