Hey everyone. This story was written for Angel's Event: The Pumpkin Patch, and October Writing Club's Character Appreciation on Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. For Angel's Event: The Pumpkin Patch I used the Prompt for A10 which was (plot point) jumping in leaves. For Character Apprecaition I used prompt 18. (setting) Malfoy Mannor and I used Lucius in the story for the bonus. I hope you all enjoy Leaf Pile Jumping Day.
The sounds of someone jumping into a pile of leaves rang in Lucius Malfoy's ears as he walked his vast estate. This wasn't something new to this home as Lucius well knew. He'd grown up in this house and played in the leaves many times as child. But he knew very well that Narcissa wouldn't allow their son to do the same thing. It would be very unBlack like in her mind. But if that was case who was it that was hiding in the leaves.
Walking towards the quivering pile of leaves he raised his wand in case it was someone who going to attack and try to kill him. He watched the leaf pile a few more minutes before he decided to speak to the person.
"You come out," he told the unknown person. "But I promise if you are here to harm my family you will regret it." He pulled his wand out as he said this hoping to make an intimidating figure.
A small giggle came from the leaf pile which really surprised him. He hadn't seen Draco come outside and wasn't even aware that his son was awake from his nap. The blonde haired boy popped out of the leaf pile and raced over to his father.
"It's me, Papa," Draco cried hugging around Lucius's legs.
With a sigh of relief that it wasn't someone trying to take revenge on him for being a Death Eater and helping Lord Voldemort during the war he put his wand away. Kneeling down to Draco's level he smiled. "Does your mother know you're out here, Draco?" he asked watching the little blonde bundle of energy.
Draco shook his head and looked longingly back at the pile of leaves. It seemed like Draco wanted to ask his father a question but couldn't bring himself to even get it out.
"What is it, son?" Lucius asked watching his child's face.
"Can we play in the leaves, Papa?" Draco asked thinking that the answer was going to be no.
Lucius watched his son's disappointed face knowing Draco expected a no. Lucius didn't have any meetings plan for the day so he made a spur of the moment decision. He'd have a fun day with his son.
"Of course, son," Lucius told the boy with a small smile. He watched as his son tore over to the pile of leaves and jump right in.
"Come on, Papa," Draco called waving him over. "You too."
Lucius felt a smile come across his face as he did something he hadn't done since he was a very young child. He jumped into the pile of leaves right next to his son.
Narcissa watched with a small smile on her face as father and son spent the day jumping into and out of leaf piles. This was all she ever wanted for both her boys and she hoped they remember it for a long time to come.
I hope you all enjoyed Leaf Pile Jumping Day.
