I figured it was time to get back in the game and The Covenant seemed like a good place to start. I'm trying not to go down Mary-Sue Alley, but I have no idea how that's gonna go.I'm hoping to do more then one story, but with my track record, I'm not sure how it'll work out and I won't make any promises. This follows the movie, but not to the letter. I just had to get this out and I hope ya'll enjoy it.
Prologue
It was raining hard, making the dark night even more treacherous as the truck speed down the highway, toward Ipswich.
The atmosphere inside the vehicle was a tense silence stretching between the driver and the passenger.
"Rachel..." An attempt to bridge the silence was cut short with an icy glare.
"Dad," Rachel ground out, scowling darkly. "just don't."
He sighed dejectedly as Rachel turned back to the window, glaring into the dark rain unseeingly as she recalled the arguement responsible for her frigid demeanor.
She just wants to see you.
She never did before. As far as I'm concerned, we're better off without her.
She's your mother.
She never acted like it. If you think I'm going to let her back into my life now, think again.
You're going to see her!
No!
Hearing the arguement in her mind, even now, gave Rachel a queasy feeling and she missed seeing the shadowy figure by the side of the road.
Rachel's father glanced at her for a moment as he took a particularily sharp curve.
By either the force of the curve or some unseen force, the truck slide toward the edge of the road and their screams were lost amidst the crunch of metal and shattering glass.
